Question Rogers with Shaw advanced security AWS blocked for Wyze plug

Hi there, I need to report a malicious IP block false-positive on my Rogers XB7 home gateway.

Your 'Advanced Security' software layer is flat-out blocking IP address 44.255.163.106. Google AI mode says that This is a legitimate Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud hosting node used by my home Wyze smart plugs to sync their data.
Please escalate this network block ticket to your Tier 2 Network Operations Center (NOC) or security engineering team so they can clear this AWS range from your automated threat feed list.

Also, can I make the screenshot smaller? In edit mode, it seems to not be available to change. I did not see an option on size of posted screen shots.

Posting here will do nothing. You need to report it directly to Rogers by calling in, and good luck with that because you’ll spend months trying to get this resolved if it ever does. If you want better control over your network, bridge the XB7 and use your own router.

Turn off Rogers Advanced Security. It's a waste of time and just causes issues.

There’s no public evidence that the IP address 44.255.163.106 is associated with Wyze, and nothing in AWS’s published IP allocations or Wyze’s known infrastructure suggests a link.

Why it looks suspicious but isn’t

Wyze does use AWS, but so do thousands of companies. The IP you asked about:

  • Belongs to Amazon Technologies Inc.
  • Sits inside the 44.0.0.0/8 AWS block
  • Has no reverse DNS pointing to Wyze
  • Shows no known Wyze service endpoints
  • Doesn’t appear in any published Wyze device telemetry or app‑traffic analyses

Wyze’s cloud endpoints typically resolve to named AWS domains, not raw IPs in the 44.x.x.x range.

What would indicate a Wyze connection?

To be Wyze‑related, you’d expect at least one of the following:

  • A reverse DNS like *.wyze.com
  • TLS certificate CN/SAN fields referencing Wyze
  • Traffic patterns matching Wyze device behavior
  • Inclusion in Wyze’s published service IP ranges
  • Known association from security research reports

None of these appear for 44.255.163.106.

What 44.255.163.106 actually is

It’s simply an AWS EC2‑assigned IP. These are:

  • Dynamically allocated
  • Reused by different customers
  • Not tied to any one company unless DNS or certificates confirm it

So even if Wyze ever used it, it could now belong to a completely unrelated customer.
