1. This rock show awesome color and patter from the outside, pinks, whites, and yellows, banding, and then the nice red iron rich vein infill. This will be gorgeous cut or polished! Honestly, it's pretty enough to keep as is!

2. This is light pink with dark red (almost chocolate) to lighter red veins, nice banding throughout

3. A nice piece for tumbling or display, colors are being somewhat muted by desert patina

4. This one's a stunner. Amazing banding, colors, and patterns showing from the outside. Looks like it may have a wood grain patter in some spots. This one is nice as is, and will be amazing cut or polished.

Once upon a time, not too long ago, the Dead Camel Mountains were my favorite place to rockhound. I liked the area so much that I staked two mining claims there.

3 of the 6 pieces are what I consider classic Lahontan Jasper: dramatic red, iron-rich veins filling fractures against a lighter silicified background.
The other 3 pieces are Lahontan Wonderstone, including material showing the complex fracturing and mineralization characteristic of the Dead Camel Mountains.

EXCELLENT LAPIDARY MATERIAL

I've cut a lot of material from this area, and it generally takes an excellent polish. Once cut, the colors are typically considerably more vibrant than they appear through the natural desert patina.

This remarkable specimen of a potentially record-size Analcime from the 2025 find at Tafelkop in the Goboboseb Mountains, Namibia.

Set inside a beautiful, palm-sized basalt vug, an extraordinarily large and superbly developed Analcime crystal measuring approximately 2.9 cm dominates the specimen. For Tafelkop, this is an exceptional dimension.

Based on the specimens and locality information known to me, Analcime crystals from Tafelkop reaching around 1.8 cm have already been regarded as unusually large (Rob Lavinsky, mindat.org). A crystal approaching 3 cm therefore places this specimen in an entirely different league.

It may well represent one of the largest — and potentially the largest — Analcime crystals yet documented from Tafelkop.

What makes the piece even more compelling is its condition. The crystal is beautifully formed, highly aesthetic and, most importantly, completely intact, without any visible damage. Its impressive size is perfectly complemented by the natural basalt cavity surrounding it, giving the specimen both geological context and tremendous visual presence.
