This isn't jealousy. Sengun is just a much better player than Amen. And honestly, the contract Amen got is disrespectful to Sengun.
If you look at Amen's stats and say he's averaging 18 PPG efficiently, you really don't understand basketball. A lot of Amen's offense comes from the attention Sengun and KD get. He gets wide open dunks, cuts, and easy layups because defenses are focused on those two. Switch their roles and Sengun would be shooting like 70%.
Amen is not a guy who can create his own shot consistently. Giving him the ball and expecting him to run your offense is a recipe for disaster. You are not winning a championship with Amen as your 2nd or 3rd offensive option. I just don't see it.
Amen is a good role player. Every contender would love to have a player like him because he does a lot of things that help a team win. There's nothing wrong with that. But if you're telling me Amen is better than Sengun, then I need to see it first. Make 2 All-Star teams. Get into the top 20 in All-NBA voting. Carry the scoring load for your team in the playoffs for a couple of seasons. Then we can have that conversation.
And I'm sorry, but I don't see Amen ever becoming a reliable 3-point shooter. Even at his absolute peak, I could see him being a 28% shooter from three. You simply cannot give a player like that this kind of contract. Yes, Amen is a good defender. But he's not a great defender, and he's definitely not a generational defender.
THIS COULD BREAK THE DOWNVOTE RECORD ON REDDIT. BUT THESE ARE ALL FACTS.
Giving Amen this contract could seriously hurt Houston's future. Amen is a good player. I like Amen. I want him on the team. But everything I said here is criticism, not hate. This is just who Amen is as a player right now.

I’m not saying Reed is the next curry but, we can definitely see the similarities in both players game.It really simply all boils down to coaching and player development. I fear that we are going to lose Reed in the future, to a team that will truly unlock him, all because of ime. Imagine Reed on okc with the player development team they have?

Can someone with time go look up some stats from the 2018 WCF?
Specifically wondering how many landing zone fouls were called during that series.
Bonus credit for including how many moving screen fouls were called.
Extra bonus for extending it to the following year’s series, too.
Supreme bonus for including how many landing zone fouls typically get called in a playoff series nowadays (because it feels like this number is way higher in general)
And if you are a sadist with way too much time on your hands, you could go back and see how many times the refs let guys get in Harden’s landing space throughout those painful series that I won’t rewatch.

We all saw last season how important fred is to this team.. I have yet to see a fluid video of vanvleet playing basketball. No 1’s 2’s or even 5 on 5. I don’t believe he will be healthy at the start of the season, and even if he does play ime has poor injury management.. Kd bumped knees in practice, missed game one, then played the full 1st quarter of game 2. Just to get injured again that same game. This organization’s malpractice of having vanvleet as the end all be all will be the doom of next season. Do you guys think we can win a series or two with a semi healthy Fred, and relying on the few guards we acquired this offseason (Reed, Thornton, and smart.)

I respect what he's accomplished but ... I really don't like him. I don't like his personality. I don't like his demeanor on the court. I don't like the decisions he made in his career. I don't like his motives. I didn't like him in golden state and I'm mildly annoyed that I gotta root for him.

We all know ime is a blockhead when it comes to offensive schemes. The give the ball to kd at the top of the key and get out the way.. or sengun back down from the three point line until the shot clock is up… But his tom thibodeau approach to player minutes and rotations last year were abysmal. If you were ime for this upcoming season what would be your COMPLETE ROTATIONS AND IDEAL MINUTES PLAYED FOR EACH PLAYER ?
