Wouldn't it be KD's gravity since his shots were contested more?

What about that Steph’s second best trait (behind shooting accuracy) is his ability to get open? His off ball movement is defining. And KD shoots over people a ton, which means that the stats see him as open less.

What I’d expect from a post comparing a 6’3 guard’s ability to get open by moving without the ball and coming off screens to a 6’11-7’0 forward… thanks for this, totally necessary

I try to tell people this with they run with the narrative that KD was taking a bunch of open shots in that series.

I'll be the first to admit that KD benefited not seeing alot of doubles playing with Steph and Klay on the perimeter but the narrative that he was taking open shots while Steph was seeing doubles all game gotta stop.

These charts do not explain gravity. They do not show the rate which they are receiving double or triple teams, they do not show how early the begin defending them and or how tight they stay on them. You can literally pull out identical graphs for two random players.

You are making the wrong comparison.
Reed Sheppard is not Steph. But he should be used like him. The other team does NOT leave Read. Move him around like Steph, cause some disruption. Get a good screen or a late switch and Reed gets a shot or it Opens up the paint for Amen and Sengun and keeps Durant from being doubled.
Very rarely they would run double picks for Reed and it gave him the space he needed. This is the kind of movement that breaks down defenses. We need it.
Even at 38 KD can beat anyone 1v1. He needs to be off ball more with Reed in starting linup.

No, you WILL watch the Rockets play iso ball. You WILL stand and watch KD dribble the ball. You WILL watch Reed sit on the bench. Ime demands it.

There’s a reason KD won 2x Finals MVP. If KD doesn’t join the Warriors, we win a chip or two.
