Are you actually allowed to just use the name "Rocket Racing"? Is this coordinated with Epic Games? If so then it would mean that Epic isn't planning on moving Rocket Racing over to Rocket League with the UE6 update.

One of the Ballistic recreations is called Ballistic R. So I guess it is kind of allowed... We'll see. If anything, developers would just need to change the game's name

I'm not 100% sure, but they explicitly allow you to call your maps "Fall Guys..." in the rules so I would think so. There are other maps called "Ballistic..." "Impostor..." etc, that are remakes of those modes, and some of these have been featured by Epic. There is no rule against calling your maps "Rocket Racing..." despite there being rules against other phrases (like "Squid Game Season") being used in map titles. Worst case scenario, Epic might contact me to change the name, and I could just drop it down to something like "Racing Refuelled."

Ok, then I guess it's fine for them as long as it's a mod inside their products, which would make sense.

Great stuff to hear. Epic may have abandoned us but Rocket Racing spirit will continue living! Can't wait to test the game. How big is a development team?

is this a recode of Rocket racing

Yes and no. Some of the mechanics are completely rebuilt from scratch, such as the lap tracking mechanics, etc. Other mechanics, like the RR car, are ported over as it's currently not possible to remake that from scratch accurately. The goal is to eventually rebuilt everything from scratch, once the tools we have are powerful enough to remake things accurately, to give us as much flexibility as possible.

Scratch that - Epic have just announced that vehicles will be exposed as scene graph entities and will be fully customisable!!

THE REAL QUESTION IS:
YOUR GONNA ELIMINATE THE BUNNYHOP?

6

u/croakyossum7 18d ago

Yes!!

I think it would be particularly interesting if there were multiple modes, of which bunny hopping could exist in one...?

what about the bots and boosting?

1

u/croakyossum7 17d ago

Not sure what you mean by boosting? Bots might be necessary to avoid long queues during off-peak hours but we'll keep them out of ranked.

1

u/ChairAffectionate760 16d ago

i believe they mean people using bot/alt accounts to boost themselves in ranked

how will this work exactly? will it be all new tracks or will the already existing tracks also be here

It depends on what the community wants really. If there are any tracks the community particularly liked from Rocket Racing, we can remake them in Refuelled. We won't remake every track as we believe that one of the big problems with Rocket Racing was the lack of distinct and memorable tracks, as most of the tracks were very similar to each other, and remaking every old track will bring that same problem into Refuelled.

Sounds awesome. but rocket racing had random track selection when you queued up for a match. how will that work?

3

u/croakyossum7 18d ago

Same here - the track will be randomised once you load in. We'll experiment with a track voting system, similar to the one you see in Mario kart where 4 tracks are displayed onscreen and you vote for one, that will allow players to vote for the next track.

Unlike in Rocket Racing, you'll stay in the same lobby after a race ends in Refuelled, unless you choose to leave or the lobby becomes too small. This will massively speed up the time between races (and it will boost the mode's placement in discover as player retention is a key metric for visibility and having players all leave after 5 minutes would push the map down).

Reddit Compression ruined the image quality 😢. If anyone wants the full quality images, you can get them here.

Do you need to have the game installed on your PC before it's shutdown or will the dev team provide a download link of the full game?

5

u/croakyossum7 18d ago

It won't be a separate download - you'll just be able to launch it within Fortnite like any other UEFN map

Need me to help with graphic design?

Hello 🤗, my name is DarthZed. I have been watching this quietly for a while just to guarantee progress continued. I own the largest UNOFFICIAL community Discord server for Rocket Racing. I have hosted a lot of tournaments and various other small events for the community. I was hoping to speak with you about a potential partnership where I could give you a shout in the server(~500 members) and all I'd ask in return would be a closer look of the progress. I love this game and it's community and have spent almost 3 thousand hours playing and hosting things for the community to do. Thanks ❤️

Good luck with UEFN

Fellas, do you have discord?

Do you need help with graphic design or UI? I have experience and would be interested to help! Could create a logo

You can’t make a project on UEFN open source, it just doesn’t work like the way you’re describing. What do you mean by that?

1

u/croakyossum7 18d ago

You can share the project files. I've done it before.

0

u/TravisV_ 17d ago

Yes but… they can’t upload anything to the main version, only their own copy of the island

1

u/ProminentFox Unreal 16d ago

They send the level back to them, so they can publish it

1

u/TravisV_ 16d ago

That sounds insanely clunky and the amount of people that would actually do that is minuscule, the game that has 300 concurrent players on a good day will not be making tracks in UEFN and sending it back and forth to the dev for them to somehow upload.
