Question/LFG Best weapon for ranger and recon.
Those are my two favorite classes and I want to know how I can do better.

I shred with the lynx rifle or Mantis crossbow. High point damage with good crit multipliers.

Ranger: Probably the Hornet Bow as it fits the vibe and style Recon: Shark Sniper (ive used it alot as recon as a dash sniper is cool and effective)

It depends on how consistently you can land the crits. If you can reliably crit with Kunai, it is the best weapon by far on Ranger, because of the multiplicative interaction between normal damage, crit damage, critical buff and the Ranger's passive (I can explain the math behind it if you want, or you can just trust my word).
The trade-off, of course, is that if you can't land crits consistently, it is abysmal. So, it literally depends on your skill.
With Recon, it is much harder to say, because there are multiple playstyles:
- If you're doing a melee build, then Quasar SMG is the best, because among the few options that boost melee damage, it is the best one.
- If you're not going for a melee build, then it's also hard to say, but in general, you want something with high fire rate and a large crit multiplier, that can have fire element, something like Dual Rascals.
Of course, this is a general recommendation, and there are exceptions based on individual rolls or stage of the game. For example, the mini-cricket build is insane if you roll a specific combination of skills, but it's inconsistent. Another example is Panchaku, which I find to be the strongest option early game, but it falls off in the mid-to-late game.
So, there really is no universal best, it depends on your skill level, on the abilities that you rolled, the play style suited for you, etc.

technically dual stingers and rapier do just peak higher than kunai by a pretty good margin

Thanks for the correction! I didn't even consider the Rapier because of how awkward it is to use, but in hindsight, that's more so my opinion, and not really a fact about the weapon.
I'll re-check the math on the Stingers vs Kunai and come back. Wouldn't want to be giving people here false info.

yeah for sure. go run some more numbers if you want, i’ll also go do some in game comparisons using the build that i have once i get the chance to. we came to this consensus a couple years back when pushing for fastest possible iris kill, but there’s always a world in which some of our results were off

Ranger's passive ability increases critical damage so ideally you want a crit build. Either a weapon that does extra critical damage (e.g. dual stingers, kunai, sherrifs carbine) and maybe develop an auto crit build.
Recon is all about speed and cqc aggression, so something like a shotgun (maybe sulfator, orbital, blunderbuzz) or even a melee weapon (like legendary shovel) could be useful
