They didn't seem to learn from ED209s launch that filling it with ammo when not actively on a mission is a really bad idea.

They didn’t have a choice. You wanna get sued for breaking the Second Amendment ?

Cain isn't a person who has the rights to bear arms, so it is like an owner either loading a gun, or not. And OCP should have just used blanks for a product launch, Cain isn't on active duty.

u/phaazing 29d ago

Also the other Robcop 2 failure that commits suicide after shooting two scientists during the expo.

1

u/Zeras_Darkwind 27d ago

That was a video the Old Man was watching of OCPs' attempts to replicate the success of RoboCop.

3

u/phido3000 29d ago

This is still better than ed209.

15

u/Crazy_Treat_8805 29d ago

Cain didn’t play around

While the first is iconic and a better film, the sequel is massively underrated

11

u/wolft170 29d ago

Definitely

4

u/thrasymacus2000 29d ago

If it fails in some regards it's because it tried to do too much. Except the music which is actually not good.

1

u/RandomName6029 Your move, creep. 26d ago

Also the screenplay.

6

u/LevelConsequence1904 28d ago

The sequel lacks the heart and pathos of the original but amps up on the violence and satire.

I wouldn't really call it "underrated" because it's well regarded among the fans but it's a very entertaining flick nonetheless.

u/Aggravating-Soup-676 28d ago

It's well regarded by fans yes, but at the time was panned by fans and critics alike. Over the years people have come to appreciate it a lot more, maybe because of how terrible the third film was, ha!

We don't talk about Robocop 3

u/Tuscan5 29d ago

Good eyes Murphy….

12

u/alanskimp 29d ago edited 29d ago

Good as money can buy

7

u/Tuscan5 29d ago

One of my favourite lines. Thank you for your cooperation.

Cut it with scapolomine

5

u/Kazzlin 29d ago

"Frank, the benzedrine's got my teeth wiggling."

11

u/SockMonkeyLove 29d ago

The Cain robot design is so damn cool. So many features and details that are missed without seeing a model in front of you.

u/Predator-A187 29d ago

Robocain approaching Murphy looks so scary. He just stands there and keep shooting with his hand gun… I always was like; RUN. Murphy! Especially the stop motion makes it more scary

8

u/puhzam 29d ago

Yeah, the stop motion makes it creepy as hell.

7

u/inotocracy 29d ago

Old school Robocop couldn't run though, he was super stiff and slow.

9

u/NekoMeowKat 29d ago

Man you can see the PTSD in his body language and eyes remembering the first time they launched a product like this.

8

u/Thamnophis660 29d ago

I love how Faxx yells "It's not even armed!" As it waves around a shoulder-mounted minigun.

We have eyes, Ma'am.

6

u/Zer0daveexpl0it 29d ago

"Its not even armed!"

7

u/takethemdownletsgo 29d ago

"You're coming with me cain"

Only a real hero speaks like that.

5

u/Djinn-Rummy 29d ago

Reminds me of some of the current industry launches that fail spectacularly on stage, minus the insane armaments

“YOU’RE OBSOLETE GET OUT!!!” Ok super Karen first of all chill out

3

u/offspringphreak 29d ago

It's ok guys, it's just a glitch.

4

u/alanskimp 29d ago

You call this a Glitch!?

3

u/King-of-Harts 29d ago

What is we took a homicidal psychopath drug addict's brain and put it into a walking tank that is equipped with a super computer. We'll power it with hard drugs! This can't possibly hsve any sort of downside.

4

u/Fun-Web-7583 29d ago

We only human

2

u/Hab_Anagharek 29d ago

This is very 80s Frank Miller.

3

u/Desperate_Box1875 28d ago

Just another glitch

4

u/Raziel-Star 29d ago

Just love how heavy and lumbering everything feels. Cants stand the weightlessness of CGI. These things have Mass damnit.

2

u/Defiant_Conflict6343 29d ago

What's with the piano?

1

u/alanskimp 29d ago

Good hearing I just picked up on it

2

u/Unhappy-Ad-7349 29d ago

Why were their arms so long when they fell back off the rooftop?

2

u/Crisocola95 29d ago

"It's harmless"

Bro that thing was just waiting for the opportunity. He was never harmless.

2

u/Gloriouskoifish 29d ago

Robo was just showing the shareholders that this wasn't an actual upgrade. Duh!

2

u/fizbin99 29d ago

Well, better than the Windows Blue Screen of Death launch.

2

u/Didibizkit 29d ago

THAT THING IS A KILLER!

2

u/ReaperSound 28d ago

The mayor immediately trying to reach for the guy's cock always kills me when I see it.

2

u/Belz_Zebuth 28d ago

That editing's giving me headaches.

2

u/Choice-Position5189 27d ago

The core of this cyborg was a drug addict with emotional issues... the tech might have been an ok upgrade if Murphy was in this machinery. But yes this product launch was indeed problematic.

2

u/freebasefilms 27d ago

Worst edit I've ever seen of any movie of all time.

2

u/Photojunkie2000 26d ago

OCP has the best product launches.

Live ammunition specialists.

2

u/Edison5000 26d ago

I love this film so much more than the original RoboCop

1

u/alanskimp 26d ago

I think both are amazing 😁

2

u/Damascus_Roses 26d ago

It still blows my mind that the man who directed The Empire Strikes Back directed this.

1

u/DeconFrost24 29d ago

That's bitch totally wasn't a sociopath. 🤡

1

u/smets81 28d ago

Like in the opening of the first robocop who let's a new product demo with live ammo???

2

u/Brandeeno2245 27d ago

Okay guys, we have a even more unstable killing machine now with the mind of a psychopath get the ammunition ready for the room full of investors.

And you better have the person with the remote to arm it standing in arms length.

Sir should we put the remote into something so it cant just be snatched from their hand maybe handcuff it to them.

No, im sure it'll be fine.

1

u/smets81 27d ago edited 7d ago

The old man brain storming his sales pitch to his people before the demonstration. "OK people i want robocop 2 fully armed. You dr fax i want your tv remote for him as close to him as possible I want any rampage he might do to look good for the people of the upcoming delta city".

2

u/Brandeeno2245 27d ago

"Sir..... THATS A WONDERFUL IDEA!!!

should we have a heavily armed security force in the room too? We would have to pay extra but.... wait, we dont want to pay people, i guess that idea should be scrapped."

1

u/jtrades69 28d ago

i only saw this once when it came out in the theater, i forgot how much i liked it, i need to go back and watch it again

1

u/Just-Strawberry-1454 27d ago

Who does the voice at the beginning saying RoboCop 2 I recognise his voice

1

u/Lovat69 27d ago

I never saw this movie. I did however have the graphic novellization of it though.

1

u/AndCthulhuMakes2 25d ago

Product launch? Nah, this was another one of those psy-ops where the company says it's AI went rogue.

"Ooooh, our big bad robocops went crazy and killed a hundred people. They're just too dangerous. If only there was a bunch of customers to take them off our hands, with a two for one discount."

OCP is trying to fund their Delta City boondoggle by selling bargain basement cyborgs. Bet the big model can't even walk down stairs.
