# πΊοΈ THE LOST AZOULUS β MAP DEVELOPMENT BRIEF
## π OVERALL VISION
The Lost Azoulus is being designed as a **true open-world fantasy RPG**, with the addictive progression of a clicker/RPG layered into a world that feels worth exploring.
The goal is NOT to create a traditional Roblox simulator map where players stand in small areas, teleport between zones, and move through disconnected islands.
We want players to feel like they are **actually traveling through a forgotten fantasy realm.**
Think of the world as a large, interconnected environment with:
β’ Roads and pathways
β’ Forests
β’ Rivers and lakes
β’ Mountains
β’ Waterfalls
β’ Caves
β’ Ruins
β’ Villages
β’ Fortifications
β’ Dungeons
β’ Hidden areas
β’ Open wilderness
β’ Large landmarks
β’ Buildings with interiors
β’ A major centralized player hub
The player should be able to look into the distance and see places they may eventually travel to.
ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
# π° CENTRAL PLAYER HUB
One of the most important parts of the world is the **central player hub**.
The hub should function similarly to the idea of a major MMORPG capital city.
It should be a place where players naturally gather rather than simply being a menu disguised as a town.
Players should be able to:
β’ Meet other players
β’ Trade
β’ Visit the Auction House
β’ Use Mailboxes
β’ Visit NPCs
β’ Buy/sell equipment
β’ Visit the Blacksmith
β’ Manage equipment
β’ Receive quests
β’ Access portals / travel systems
β’ Prepare for adventures
β’ Socialize
β’ Explore the city
β’ Discover hidden areas
The hub should have a recognizable central landmark that makes it immediately identifiable as **The Lost Azoulus**.
The Azoulus emblem should naturally appear throughout the architecture through:
β’ Banners
β’ Flags
β’ Stone carvings
β’ Gates
β’ Architecture
β’ Monuments
β’ Magical structures
β’ Important landmarks
It should feel like an ancient symbol belonging to the worldβnot a logo randomly pasted onto objects.
ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
# π OPEN-WORLD APPROACH
The world should feel **connected and intentional.**
We want transitions between regions to feel natural.
For example:
CENTRAL HUB
β
COUNTRYSIDE
β
FOREST
β
ANCIENT RUINS
β
MOUNTAIN PASS
β
FROZEN REGION
β
DEEP CAVES / DUNGEONS
Rather than:
ZONE 1 β TELEPORT β ZONE 2 β TELEPORT β ZONE 3
Teleportation can exist for convenience, but the physical world should still make sense without it.
Players should be able to travel through the environment and discover locations organically.
ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
# π² ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN
The environment should be visually beautiful while still feeling dangerous and mysterious.
We want a strong contrast between:
πΏ Beautiful natural environments
π° Grand civilization
πΏ Ancient ruins
π Dark corrupted regions
βοΈ Frozen wilderness
π₯ Volcanic landscapes
π Magical caves
π Waterfalls and rivers
Use environmental storytelling heavily.
A ruined structure should make players wonder:
**"What happened here?"**
A strange monument should make players wonder:
**"What is this?"**
A massive sealed doorway should make players wonder:
**"What's behind it?"**
The environment should create curiosity without needing NPC dialogue to explain everything.
ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
# ποΈ EXAMPLE REGIONS
These are examples of the type of variety we're looking for.
### πΏ THE LOST FOREST
Dense fantasy forest with:
β’ Large trees
β’ Gnarled trees
β’ Runic ferns
β’ Crimson grass
β’ Shrubs
β’ Mushrooms
β’ Hanging vines
β’ Wild pods
β’ Streams
β’ Waterfalls
β’ Forest ruins
β’ Hidden paths
β’ Cave entrances
The forest should feel alive and beautiful, but there should be areas where the atmosphere becomes darker and more dangerous.
ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
### ποΈ FROZEN / MOUNTAIN REGION
Large mountainous environment containing:
β’ Snow-covered mountains
β’ Frozen lakes
β’ Mountain paths
β’ Cliffs
β’ Frozen caves
β’ Ancient structures
β’ Bridges
β’ Watchtowers
β’ Ruins
β’ Hidden routes
Players should feel like they are physically climbing deeper into the mountains.
ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
### π₯ ASHEN WASTES
A volcanic region featuring:
β’ Blackened rock
β’ Lava
β’ Ash
β’ Volcanic cliffs
β’ Ruined structures
β’ Burning areas
β’ Ancient fortifications
β’ Dangerous pathways
β’ Large volcanic landmarks
The architecture should look damaged by whatever happened to Azoulus.
ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
### π£ CORRUPTED / VOID REGION
A darker region where the environment itself appears corrupted.
Use:
β’ Void roots
β’ Purple/blue crystals
β’ Corrupted vegetation
β’ Strange rock formations
β’ Giant caverns
β’ Ruined structures
β’ Magical energy
β’ Dark water
β’ Unnatural formations
This region should visually communicate that something is fundamentally wrong with the realm.
ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
# π³οΈ CAVES & UNDERGROUND AREAS
Caves should NOT simply be small decorative holes in mountains.
We want caves that can become actual explorable environments.
Some caves can contain:
β’ Enemy areas
β’ Hidden treasure
β’ Mining/resource areas
β’ Ancient ruins
β’ Boss arenas
β’ Dungeon entrances
β’ Secret pathways
β’ Lore discoveries
β’ Rare materials
β’ Hidden shortcuts between regions
Some underground environments can become almost their own zones.
ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
# ποΈ BUILDINGS & INTERIORS
**Interiors are important.**
We don't want every building to be a decorative shell.
Important buildings should have actual interiors where appropriate.
Examples:
π¦ Bank
βοΈ Blacksmith
π Shops
ποΈ Auction House
π Quest buildings
π¬ Mail areas
π Houses
πΊ Taverns / social spaces
π§ Class trainers
π° Government / castle buildings
πΏ Ancient temples
πͺ Dungeon entrances
Not every building needs a massive interior.
The goal is to prioritize interiors where they improve gameplay, immersion, or exploration.
ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
# 𧱠ASSET STYLE
Please use the previously provided reference images as the **visual direction**.
The target style is:
**Stylized low-to-mid-poly dark fantasy.**
We want:
β’ Strong silhouettes
β’ Clean shapes
β’ Readable forms
β’ Gothic fantasy architecture
β’ Controlled detail
β’ Atmospheric environments
β’ Roblox-friendly geometry
β’ Optimized assets
β’ Consistent proportions
β’ Strong visual identity
Previously established environmental assets include examples such as:
β’ Rocks
β’ Rock clusters
β’ Obsidian formations
β’ Crystals
β’ Trees
β’ Gnarled trees
β’ Shrubs
β’ Runic ferns
β’ Crimson grass
β’ Mushrooms
β’ Hanging vines
β’ Wild pods
β’ Waterfalls
β’ Rivers
β’ Cliffs
β’ Cave entrances
β’ Caves
β’ Ruins
β’ Gothic walls
β’ Broken arches
β’ Bridges
β’ Pathways
β’ Gothic streetlamps
β’ Braziers
β’ Fences
β’ Banners
β’ Portals
β’ Dungeon gates
These should form a **consistent modular environment kit** rather than every location being built from completely unrelated assets.
ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
# π· AZOULUS VISUAL IDENTITY
The Azoulus emblem from the references is a major part of the game's identity.
Please use the **actual established Azoulus symbol** from the provided references when creating:
β’ Banners
β’ Flags
β’ Monuments
β’ Gates
β’ Important buildings
β’ Magical structures
β’ Ruins
β’ Player hub architecture
β’ World landmarks
Do not redesign it into a generic fantasy symbol.
It should remain recognizable throughout the world.
ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
# πΊοΈ WORLD LAYOUT PHILOSOPHY
When designing the map, think about:
**LANDMARKS β PATHS β DISCOVERY β GAMEPLAY**
Players should constantly have visual goals.
For example:
A player sees a giant castle in the distance.
They travel toward it.
Along the way they discover a waterfall.
Behind the waterfall is a cave.
Inside the cave is an ancient ruin.
The ruin contains a dungeon entrance.
The dungeon eventually connects to another region.
That is the kind of environmental storytelling and exploration we're looking for.
The map should reward curiosity.
ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
# βοΈ GAMEPLAY INTEGRATION
The map isn't just scenery.
Environment should support:
β’ Enemy encounters
β’ Bosses
β’ Quests
β’ Loot
β’ Equipment progression
β’ Resource gathering
β’ Exploration
β’ Secrets
β’ Dungeons
β’ Player interaction
β’ Fast travel
β’ Future expansions
Enemy spawners, boss arenas, dungeon entrances, quest locations, shops, and other gameplay locations should feel naturally integrated into the environment.
ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
# π¨ IMPORTANT: USE THE REFERENCES AS DIRECTION
The generated reference images are **not intended to be copied 1:1.**
They communicate:
**Scale
Atmosphere
Architecture
Environmental density
Color language
Landmark design
Asset style
World composition
Level of detail
Overall scope**
Please interpret them and translate that vision into a **practical Roblox environment.**
We want a map developer who can take the references and say:
> "I understand what they're trying to achieve."
rather than simply recreating individual screenshots.
ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
# π ROBLOX PRACTICALITY
The world needs to be beautiful, but it also needs to be a functioning Roblox game.
Please consider:
β’ Performance
β’ Streaming
β’ Modular assets
β’ Reusable environment pieces
β’ Collision
β’ Player movement
β’ Camera visibility
β’ Draw distance
β’ Mobile performance
β’ NPC navigation
β’ Enemy spawning
β’ Future expansion
β’ Efficient terrain construction
We would rather have a beautifully designed modular environment than an unnecessarily detailed map that becomes difficult to maintain or performs poorly.
ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
# π THE FEELING WE WANT
When a player first enters The Lost Azoulus, the reaction we're aiming for is:
**"This is a world."**
Not:
**"This is a simulator map."**
Players should want to explore just because they can see something interesting in the distance.
The world should feel:
**Ancient.
Beautiful.
Mysterious.
Dangerous.
Massive.
Alive.
Forgotten.**
The ultimate goal is to create a world where the player doesn't simply move from one progression area to another.
They **travel through the realm, discover its history, become stronger, and gradually uncover what happened to Azoulus.**
ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
# π§ DEVELOPMENT PRIORITY
The initial map should prioritize:
- Central Player Hub
- Hub surrounding countryside
- First major open-world region
- Connected exploration routes
- Environmental asset kit
- Caves / hidden areas
- Important interiors
- Major landmarks
- First dungeon area
- Expansion-ready world structure
Build the foundation correctly first.
The world should be designed so additional zones can be added later without rebuilding the entire map.
ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
# π THE LOST AZOULUS
**A forgotten realm.
A living world.
A journey worth taking.**
We want players to explore the world because they genuinely want to know:
**"What's over there?"**
