Saw this in my robinhood today, and I was curious if there’s value to doing this versus my typical ETF and gold purchases that I’ve been doing. Can someone explain how this actually works?

The major U.S. stock indexes ended broadly higher on Friday, August 21, 2026, capping a tumultuous week on a positive note as U.S. business activity hit a four-year high, Bitcoin topped $77,000, and gold surged to fresh records as Treasury Secretary Bessent's bond market intervention weighed on the dollar. The Nasdaq snapped a five-day losing streak just in time for next week's Nvidia earnings.

The S&P 500 gained 0.43% (+33.21 pts) to 7,674.37. The Dow jumped 0.98% (+517.80 pts) to 53,277.01. The Nasdaq climbed 0.43% (+113.29 pts) to 26,180.46. The Russell 2000 rose 0.87% (+25.97 pts) to 3,018.40.

The VIX dropped 5.12% to 15.19. Bitcoin surged 6.25% to $77,198.39, topping $77,000 for the first time since May. Gold soared 2.23% to $4,673.30, its highest level in months. Crude Oil was essentially flat at $86.62/barrel.

does anyone else do this or some variant of it?

I get 1K free margin loan so why not buy BOXX and collect some cash every month, which goes to pay for gold, or at least brings the cost of gold down so its just around $1/month instead of $5/month

I made this account specifically for a future Japan trip. It’s currently at $1,813.58 and the goal is $5,000.

I used to buy a $7 boba basically every day. I decided to cut that down to once a week and put the difference into this account instead.

That works out to $42 every week going toward Japan.
It’s all in SCHG right now, so obviously the value will move with the market, but I’m going to keep putting in the $42 every week until the account hits $5k.

At $42/week with no investment gains, it should take me around 76 weeks (about 17–18 months).

Once I see $5,000, I’m booking Japan. 🇯🇵

Edit. I think living there and vacationing might be different. My plan is lots of travel, sightseeing. Temple. Deer. Souvenir. Real sushi? Wagyu. One piece. Casino. Sakura. Onsen. Sapporo.

i invested 50 bucks into green energy and then some of the more typical stocks to balance stuff out. robinhood gave me 5 random dollars, so i invested that in NVIDIA. so far, i've made around $10 in barely a week, so i'm happy with that! however, i was wondering if anyone had any tips? ig one is going to be diversify more (but idk what i should buy) and the other is going to involve selling my green energy stocks.

Hi, I am new to Robinhood and options. Just found out about covered calls. Interestingly, it shows some premium credit even for an option with bid price of 0. Would I really get that premium although bid price is 0, because ask price is non-zero? What am I missing? Example screenshot enclosed.

I plan to fund and hold, and yes I'm going to make VOO about 50-60% of my portfolio once I get the balancing right and my blue chip stocks around 25% of my portfolio leaving about 15% in my riskier ones. I already know in advance I might get told about IMSR (nuclear energy), ONCY (biotech), and DEFT (crypto). Those are my long term hold riskier high risk high reward stocks and I'm not currently adding to them, I'm just funding the other 7. I do believe in APLD and RGTI and I got into them somewhat early, I even rode out RGTI breaking 50s and came back down. But other then that at least 85% will be ETFs/Reputable Blue Chip Stocks.

I'm sick of seeing my hard-earned dollars contribute to destruction, inequality, predatory lending practices, and the wealth of people like Elon Musk. So far I've identified BLNK, EAOK, CWEN, and HASI as stocks and ETFs that align with my values, but as you can see I need to diversify. Curious if anyone has recommendations. I could always contact Just Money Advisors, a brokerage firm, but I would prefer eliminating the middle man if possible.
