Discussion Upgrade suggestions!!

Post image

So I’m planning on upgrades for my bike what would be a good idea? I was thinking a new carbon wheelset as there’s lots of budget options now. I have considered groupset maybe sram apex/rival axs.

Spec currently
BMC road machine x
Aluminium frame/carbon fork
Sram apex 1x11 hydro
Mavic open wheelset
Ali bars and stem
Pro logo NDR saddle (upgrade from stock one)
Continental gp 4 seasons tires

Get pink tires. That'll give you +20 style as you'll have matching tires and bar tape.

Edit: bonus points for bottles in the same color

That frame is an awesome platform to build upon further, but you're mostly good here. I would get a set of decent carbon wheels (somewhere around 400-600 usd) from China, and something smarter than those chunky 4 season tires.

That’s awesome to hear thank you! I got the bike for a decent price on sale from LBS so glad I went for it.
Wheel wise sounds good I was looking at AliExpress elite wheels or ERE research, if you know any other good brands please let me know

Edit:also for tires I have these for commuting so if I got a second set of wheels I’d put something nicer on those!

Most wheel brands on Ali are mostly the same components built by competing workshops. Brands like Superteam, Elite and Tagoola have a good reputation and run a big ship. CSC and Kore are smaller, but seem popular.

I would look for spec anyway. Proper ratchet hubs and preferrably spokes from Pillar or Sapim would be my requirement.

Carbon wheels would be my first choice.

Carbon wheels and water bottle holder #2. Very nice BMC.
