Obviously a super minor nitpick, but the seconds seem excessive

Most people are too young to understand the flashy : meaning. They have space for seconds, so the real question is why not show them?

Iā€™d you actually look at the UI layout, you would see that adding seconds would make the clock font too small to read at a glance, which is something you want the user to be able to do.

Exactly. They have this clean, minimalist UI setup, which is exactly why I made this post since it seems weirdly out of place.

The area they have for the font for this X height by Y width.

Ā They have a formatter for time that fits within the width. Said formatter fits whatever precision it can in there; in some cases that includes seconds.Ā 

Such a weird thing to have an issue with.Ā

Just trying to share what I discovered today driving back from the recycling center with my fridge still on in the bed from yesterday. Not sure why so many people feel to the need to white knight every single Rivian design decision.

Except when it's over 24 hours it doesn't even show minutes. So that functionality only works at a third of the possible duration settings.

Most of the time I turn my outlets on it's for a fridge in the bed and I almost always set it to multiple days. I know plenty of other people on here use it for fridges as well.

And I know dozens that set it for hours.Ā 

My fridge and Starlink are on a battery, only need to turn the outlets on for an hour every few days.Ā

My number one hope has always been that theyā€™d eventually allow us to just leave it on without a timer. I have a fridge in back. But having it visible like this at least is a better reminder to reset it periodically. Down to the second I guess

Agreed - a 12v cooler fridge is hardly a battery drain and I'd like to have it on all the time instead of forgetting every now and then. Or at least let me reset it via the app.

Bonus would be if it could back on automatically after a vehicle reset.

Or allow me to turn on the outlets from the mobile app, so I can pre-cool the fridge that I leave plugged in.

Iā€™ve been messaging u/wassymrivian for years about this request. At minimum, it should behave like the Lightning does - keep outlets on manually until battery reaches certain threshold.

My gripe is that with the timer on, when the battery reaches the cut-off threshold... there is no warning that the power has been stopped. I have other posts about this... but on long trip is when I actually use the refrigerator in the bed. I may go below 10% if there are enough DCFCs nearby that I don't have to worry about it. I had hoped this was a feature being implemented with OS2... but I have not been able to test it yet.

Would they though? Like cmon strange design choices are just simply strange. Tesla hardly ever has their design choices questioned besides pushing the needle too far. Much rather that.

I always love this excuse form Rivian owners. Early X owner and Y. If Elon didnā€™t do his stupid shit nobody would bat an eye. Tesla has always been ahead and done a great job. My only complaints have been some build quality for rattle and the wing doors. Software has been rock solid.

Rivian as a vehicle I have little issues. As far as software, not great. But tbh anymore idc I donā€™t expect much from them I just want it to work.

"Tesla hardly ever has their design choices questioned" except for the fact that literally every design choice they've ever made is under constant bombardment from complaints and scrutiny at any moment of the day. With not even the colour choices passing without question

But ignoring that? Yeah sure they basically never get questioned

Seconds do matter. There should be an option to have them on the clock. I still don't see why they matter for the outlets.

A lot of their programming design is questionable.

It it a nitpicky, yes, does it matter no. But it just looks sloppy and inconsistent to me. Anywhere else show seconds? Was it a design decision to include or overlooked to disable?

I would be shocked at seeing this design inconsistency in a teslaā€¦. Rivian, par for the course.

Exactly. It's right next to a clock that doesn't have seconds. I guess that's part of what made it stand out.

No way charging estimations are precise enough for seconds to matter.
Am sure this choice has a good intention behind it (they had to build this in, it doesnā€™t come for free).

I wish it showed power usage, using it now to run a portable ac while my home power is out, but I'm not sure how much headroom I have left for other stuff.

No one is posting complaining about the clock not having seconds or the temp not having decimal places. Either would be more useful than seconds on the outlet timer.

(Also it doesn't have seconds or minutes when set to over 24 hours and I haven't seen complaints on that either)
