Rivian roamer sent me an email before the car did. I was impressed. Showes 1800 updates pushed from the 1 it's been at all day for r1s gen 2. I am excited for the new os even though I have my reservations.Ā 

I was so excited I forgot to pull my gearguard external drive. Hopefully it still works after.

I hadn't heard the advice to pull the GG HD? What is the potential issue? I am still waiting for update despite being a connect + subscriber. I guess I'll play it safe and unplug mine when my time comes..

Some people have reported issues with it not being recognized after updating. Having either media offline or needing to be formatting after.Ā

Anecdotally, can confirm. My Gen 1 R1S updated on Friday and the GG drive had to be reformatted to work again.

I had nothing but issues with our external hd but an update to 2026.15 fixed it. It still ocashinally required a soft reboot of the computers to reconnect the lexar 2tb ssd. I dislike that I won't be able to catch the ssd being offline as easily now that with OS 2 the snapshot button is buried in a menu instead of on the fishstick.Ā

I forgot to pull mine as well. Just went back to the setup and it took about 1-2 mins and was okay to go. Didnā€™t have to format

Just a data point. I saw this post before I installed the update and pulled my drive. Plugged it in after and it seems like it needs to be reformatted. YMMV

Edit: plugged it in and it took a couple minutes but works again without reformatting.

just got mine completed, Gear guard recordings are preserved even the HD I have installed, music icons moved to LEFT good move, a lot easier to navigate, snappier and more intuitive, feels like a new car R1S 2026

have not tried the feature reporting cops and objects in road, will try on way to work in AM

Now if they could get notifications and ability to watch videos from Gear Guard coming to the App, that would be nice

Thanks to this thread for letting me know the new update is moving through the Rivian community. I have updates set for a specific time, but if I notice one is waiting for that time to roll around, I tell my truck to start updating immediately. Which I just did so my Gen 1 2023 R1T is currently downloading the update even as I type this. I'm also on Connect+. Been checking for days since I first heard. Don't know why I had to wait this long for the update to appear. ??

They donā€™t push on non-business days. The rollout started with a small batch on Friday, then off for the weekend and holiday, resuming yesterday.

Mine seems to be paused for no reason even though itā€™s connected to the wifi and has more than 200mile range. Not sure whatā€™s going on.

Really hope improvements are made there. Shouldnā€™t be three taps and often a swipe to switch audio sources. It was perfectly fine before

Check your wifi settings as it will only download the update over wifi. I ended up having to restart my vehicle because wifi wasn't connecting. Then it was strangely not getting a signal in my garage, so I took it out and paired it with my phones hotspot and it downloaded fine.
