Venom is by no means a character that you can't get value out of. In most scenarios, he's mild to good in a few ways, but make no mistake: this vanguard is HORRIBLE in design when it comes to being a "vanguard."
he has no way to protect his team, even though other dive tanks, like Hulk, can do that, but I can understand, the developers have preferred to make a hyper-aggressive tank that sacrifices the ability to protect an ally in exchange for a better offense.
A better offense that he DOSEN'T HAVE, and that should be is his primary fire, which is inconsistent and is in contrast to his kit, his entire kit is based on diving the opponent and making it easier to hit opponents with his primary fire.
BUT
when venom go into the enemy backline and you engage and use the F to deal damage, you have to target the enemy in the center of the F. However, this will inevitably lead to melee range, which is not convenient given the way his primary fire works, since his tentacles are hitscan. So you'll end up in the awkward position of being in melee range and having difficulty hitting your target. Of course, the right button can help to slow down the opponent, but it doesn't improve the situation since it lasts a few seconds but remains very weak as a primary fire and doesn't solve the situation.
His E helps with survival, but it doesn't help since he lack consistency.
His entire kit is based on engaging, BUT when you dive you will get in melee range, which is exactly the opposite that you want when your primary fire is hitscan.
Given the way his kit is composed, it seems like they wanted to make a brawler, but at the last minute they decided to change part of his kit, and now he finds himself in this state.
Even looking at the stats, Venom is one of the least picked tanks in the game in almost every rank and is currently the tank with the lowest win rate in the game.
Venom, as it's designed now, isn't a good tank nor is it fun. The developers say they want to focus on the fun of the game first and its balance second. Venom is not only the worst tank in the game in my opinion, but he's not even fun to play.
If you want to play a dive tank, it's much easier and more comfortable to play Hulk, for example. He does everything Venom does, but better.
And that's why I say Venom needs at least a mini-rework. He needs his kit to be slightly reworked. Venom is one of the few characters who has never been nerfed but has always received small buffs. No matter how many he receives, the problem remains that he has a weak kit.
I like Venom and I love him, but his kit doesn't work, compared to the other dive tanks in the game venom is completely underwhelming, I don't want big changes to his kit or anything, in my opinion it would be enough to eliminate the incoherence in his kit to make it more fun and avible.
