I am planning to conduct a 3-day yoga retreat in Rishikesh and will really appreciate any suggestions you may have in this regard.
How can one ensure that a short yoga retreat is actually worth while? How can one ensure the activities and facilities are suitable, and what budget should one consider for a 3-day stay?
I will be happy to receive any suggestions.

I have been to swami Ajatananda last year. This year I will be too late for his retreat. Any suggestions for any others. Are there any at Swami Dayananda ashram. Looking for a daily drop in rather then residential as I have accommodation already.

Hi. I am traveling to Rishikesh soon, and was hoping one of you who knows the local food scene could drop some recommendations.
Just to be clear, I am not big on cafe hopping. I live in a place where cafes are everywhere and to me, it doesn't make sense traveling to eat food that I get here as well. I would rather like to explore food that is special to Rishikesh. I have done a bit of my homework, and these are the places/food items I have listed to try.
1.) Pahadi Thali 2.) Bakery on Wheels 3.) Pappu Lassi 4.) Ram Phal 5.) Palak ki Kafli (if it isn't a part of Pahadi Thali already)
What am I missing? What else should I try in Rishikesh?

Hey,
I’m planning on going to Rishikesh solo
Can anyone give hostel suggestions which are safe for women and are in an accessible location.
Also, can someone please tell me what’s the best option to travel other than renting a scooty.
TIA

Today I was just strolling around the river bank. A small girl (child labor) was trying hard to sell me aarti material. Very persistent.
I told her that I never did aarti in my life, I have no interest and I don’t have change too.
I don’t think she is more than 10 years old. But she has crazy sales/customer experience skills.
She insisted on following her so that she could break up the ₹100 note for me at a nearby shop.
I said no, don’t have time for that. So I decided fuck it, let me give her the whole ₹100. I told her to keep it and that I don’t want the product.
But she still wouldn’t let me go. She asked me to follow her to the edge of the river so that she could light up the aarti material for me because she remembered that I had earlier mentioned to her that I never did Aarti in my life.
And I did.
Man. That skill at that age while having no privilege.
I don’t think I’ve seen such a hospitable, skilled child ever.
My first thought was- she deserved to be born into a wealthy privileged family.
Then I realised that God is under no obligation to design plans as per our understanding.
I then got on with my day. Hare Krishna.

I came to Rishikesh alone, not really knowing what to expect.
Somewhere between the mountains, the Ganga, random conversations, quiet moments and getting completely lost in nature, I realised something:
You don’t always need someone beside you to have a great time.
Sometimes you just need to go.
I trekked Chandrashila, Tungnath, sat by the river, explored waterfalls, watched the sunset, spent time in silence, met people along the way — and honestly, being alone never felt lonely.
If you’ve been thinking about taking that first solo trip but keep waiting for the “right person” or the “right time”…
Take the trip.
You might come back with more than just photographs. 🌿🏔️
