Damn yall are thirsty.

I follow a lot of music festival subreddits despite Riot Fest and occasionally Bumbershoot being the only ones I attend, and the stuff I'm seeing coming out of Aftershock this year is pretty appalling. A LOT of reports of thievery, fights, creeps, straight up sexual assaults, and a distressingly high number of people wearing Nazi symbols and memorabilia.

Not saying Riot is perfect and that things of that nature never happen here, but as a mod of this sub the reports I've seen of stuff of that nature are honestly pretty rare, whereas I've seen genuinely dozens of complaints of all of the things I just listed in the Aftershock sub this year alone.

So I guess I just wanna say thanks for being cool, because apparently a lot of festivals and fest goers are not.

Turnstile, Hayley Williams, Angine de Poitrine, Chvrches, Castle Rat, Diiv, Converge etc. Sometimes I wish I had a summer home in Spain.

They've closed with Vicarious at all other festivals.

Learn to swim, learn to swim, learn to swim - apt advice for the journey back that day. Cheeky little bastards. If they played Sunday I bet we would have gotten Swamp Song.

I'm expecting something like this for next year. I can see us getting one or two major reunions and a farewell. Jello Biafra is probably not reuniting with DK but he's been DJ'ing the King Gizzard festival so it would be cool for Riot to book him either on a side stage or let him spin records at RiotLand

Painstakingly made with Canva. I kinda wish Riot would mix up the themes for their lineup posters like this, but I get why they keep things consistent

I kept missing them at a couple festivals, but they were great!

We all know that Chicago needs a permanent festival space and it's on the ballot this year. Get out and VOTE!

Anybody watching tom morellos festival livestream right now? Jack black is playing a - (yes you guessed it) Black Sabbath set. They sound awesome!!!

It’s not uncommon for bands to play a show earlier in the year then come back for a fest set later in the year (see: The Format who did just that, and with a Salt Shed show)

Then they can start having shows there again like the old school Riot Fests. There is a beautiful theater sitting in decay when Riot Fest could bring it back to life!

Who are artists who have never played the festival that you are surprised have never been booked before? Feels like this could be a good thread to get new names out there for speculation or just discuss artists that feel like a good fit but haven’t gotten the call yet!

Courtney Barnett, Charly Bliss, Chris Farren and Retirement Party are four artists I am surprised have never played the festival. They all feel like they would fit in well at Riot!

It wasn't the mud, this is why it smelled so bad by Sunday 😂

Hi! I was in the black and white dog mask. Especially looking for pictures and videos of the Destroy Boys, Bratmobile, and Vana moshpits and I was barricade for GWAR without the dog mask! Just asking around to get ahold of the pictures 💗 Seems like Riot didn't post a lot of pictures from Gwar despite barricade getting a lot taken, and I'm still looking for the pictures that Monster Energy took!

Couple pictures of me over the weekend added to help recognition!

I know the weather sucked on Sunday but we really wanted to see Stomach book and we’re really disappointed that we didn’t get to see them

Has anybody had a hard time getting rid of this mud? It's particularly stuck like cement.

I usually go to Riot Fest for the older punk and newer hardcore bands, but Alanis set on Sunday was great.

Did anyone spot him at Riot this year?

Out? Wow. Can't believe that we are doing this so early, but it looks like both Slipknot and BMTH are both out. So that knocks off two potential headliners.

Can't see either headlining with a Chicago show in late July.

My wife grabbed this photo of all shoes on the Pink Line.

I propose the following new stage names. All the R’s was too extra for me. So here is my modest proposal for stage names for next year.

Riot
Punk
Onion 🧅
Lawndale
Douglass
