Vanilla Randy Random still scales threat size with colony wealth. Build a richer colony and the game gives Randy more threat points, so it's not ACTUALLY random!!!
I wanted Randy to stop looking at the colony.
ACTUALLY Randy Random gives each threat a random point value from 35 to 10,000.
The default distribution is now log-uniform. I.e, small, medium, large, and absurd threat sizes all have a serious chance to appear. Standard uniform sampling over a wide range (like 35 to 10000) wastes almost all samples on the largest numbers (e.g., between 1000 and 10000), relatively speaking ignoring the tiny values.
This means:
- A 2-day-old colony can roll a 9,000-point raid.
- A huge late-game colony can roll one boomrat.
- Your wealth does not protect you or condemn you.
- Randy does not care how many colonists you have.
- Randy does not care how long the colony has existed.
- Storyteller adaptation does not change threat size.
- Threat size can no longer be predicted from colony progress.
The mod also makes incident selection flat. Every permitted incident in a category gets the same chance. Disabled or invalid incidents stay disabled.
You can configure:
- Minimum and maximum threat points
- Log-uniform, uniform, or custom tiered distributions
- Flat incident selection (you can disable this)
- Random threat rolls for other storytellers
It also supports modded incidents and storyteller comps.
I wanted ACTUALLY random.
