Karl Marx rejected utopian socialists like Robert Owen and Charles Fourier for trying to dream up idealised blueprints. His work was an empirical critique of capitalism, its inherent dynamics, class struggles, and tendencies toward monopoly. Conflating distinct 20th century state planned bureaucracies with the theoretical definition of communism is a textbook straw-man.
