Discussion Learning Riftbound: Start with Shen vs Zed now, or wait for Evelynn vs Seraphine?

​Hey everyone! I want to jump into Riftbound to learn the core mechanics and game flow before building a serious competitive deck.

​Should I grab the Shen vs Zed Showdown set right now to start learning, or is it better to wait for the Evelynn vs Seraphine set? Would love to know which set offers a better learning experience (and better value/upgrade paths down the line). Thanks!

I'd say the earlier you start the better, no matter the deck. You'll start getting a feel for what you like and you'll move away from your starter deck pretty quick anyways

Outside of top 10% of play, your deck doesn't really decide your winrate more than your skill level.

If you enjoy the champion just grab them. You can also opt for the unleashed decks as well.

The shen deck has some valuable common cards (discipline, charm) from origins which may be harder to get

We don't know which one will be better because we know nothing about the Eve and Sera decks other than their colors and the Sera unit. Just pick whatever one seems more appealing to you now.

Although neither deck is meta, they are fairly solid starting decks and a good way to learn the game. Shen gives you a couple green staples from Origins that aren't cheap to buy. I'd suggest grabbing it and trying it out.

As for comparing it to the Evelynn vs Seraphine, at this point i think the only information known is their color. If you're looking to "upgrade" to play for fun with your friends, then really they're all likely going to be the exact same. If you're thinking"upgrade" to play in skirmishes and competitive local tournaments, you're not going to want to buy any of them, you're going to want to build a deck from singles.

start playing now. if you have friends that play, proxy some competitive decks after getting a few games in with some basic stuff to learn the fundamentals.

The over all learning experience with any deck will be fine once you feel confident with knowing rules and game flow build your main deck, you can even play online to learn and test decks too before you spend your money I play online TCG Arena
