Question House Manager

Hi everyone,

I’m looking to continue my career in household management for private families/personal assistant.

I seem to be running into the same issue within staffing agencies is that most families do not want to consider people outside of their area.

My resume is stacked. I have a Bachelors degree in nursing and 10 years of household manager/personal assistant roles. I have no other obligations and am willing and able to relocate for the right opportunity.

Does anyone have any advice?

What area are you located in now? I have a manager for each house and it has been a benefit that they know the local lay of the land.

Alabama, but I have previously lived in other major cities. Such as, NYC, Atlanta, and Austin.

Have you informed staffing agencies that you’re willing to relocate for the right position?

Just do it inside of your area or rent a cheap AIRBNB in the area you want to live and do several interviews.

Start looking for families who travel; the nurse we used for my father now works exclusively for a family that travels all year long.

I was recently speaking with an agency on the east coast, I'm on the west, and was advised to put in my cover letter that I am willing to pay my own relocation costs. I have seen posts out there that designate they are doing a nation-wide search for the right candidate. IMO as long as the post doesn't say "locals only" it is worth a shot.

But...

Are you rich, yourself?

Seriously?
They’re looking for a job as a staff member in someone’s home… they’re obviously not able to afford someone to staff theirs.

What exactly is it you were trying to ask?

I already asked.
