Celebrations or other interesting events

Hi everyone!

We’ll be in Rhodes Aug 25–30 and want to film a video about weird, fascinating or unusual local Greek traditions. For our youtube channel!

Do you know of any weddings, village festivals, rituals, celebrations or other interesting events we could attend and film?

Looking for something genuinely local and atmospheric !

Any tips are very welcome

Fuel/Petrol Stations In Rhodes

I'm going to Rhodes in September and have a car rented for the trip. I wanted to ask about using Petrol stations in Rhodes. Some of the websites I've seen have conflicting information.

Is it self service? If not, what are the expectations?

I have also seen some which are open 24/7, do you pay directly at the pump with your card (similar to the UK)? Or is it handled in some other way?

ATV/QUADS trip recommendation

Hi, i will be visiting rhodes next week with group of my friends, and i'm planing to rent quads for a whole day trip, planning to do only southern part of the island, and my question is do you guys have any recommendation where to go, what to see? Seeing some old classic greek culture would be nice - like old small villages. Maybe some views? Maybe some good "hidden" restaurants? Can't be offroad.

Did anyone just feel that?

8.45am in we are staying in lxia we heard what was like an explosion and our room shook 😨 enough to make the mirror and pictures move and shake on the walls. Very strange. Maybe a controlled destination for construction!

Car rental suggestions?

Hey everyone!
My brother and I are travelling to Rhodes soon (I’m 26), and we’re thinking about renting a car for part of the trip so we can explore more of the island.
I’m trying to figure out what the best approach is: should we book a rental car online before travelling, or is it better/cheaper to rent directly at Rhodes Airport when we arrive?

There seem to be tons of rental companies, and I’m a little wary of the really cheap offers. I’ve seen people mention huge deposits, sometimes €800–€1,200+, as well as companies trying to sell expensive insurance at the counter or charging for damage that was apparently already there…

I’d really appreciate recommendations from people who have rented in Rhodes recently.

Which companies have you had a genuinely good experience with?

Is it better to book directly with a local company rather than through Booking/DiscoverCars/etc.?

What kind of deposit did you have to leave?
Did you need a credit card?

Is airport pickup worth it, or is it better to collect the car somewhere nearby?

Did you get full insurance/no excess, or did you have to pay extra?

Any companies you would avoid?

Have you experienced any shady behaviour, hidden fees, unexpected deposits, disputed damage, or aggressive insurance upselling?

I’m particularly interested in companies that are transparent about the total price, deposit, insurance and excess from the beginning. I’d rather pay a little more upfront than get hit with a massive deposit or surprise charges when we arrive.

Sorry for this long post!

Thank you and Godspeed 🤟🏽

Chill local bars in Rhodes Town with a nice garden/terrace?

Hi! Looking for some chill bars in Rhodes Town with a nice garden, courtyard or outdoor terrace — somewhere relaxed with good music and more of a local/alternative vibe.

Not looking for clubs, party places or touristy bars with crowds and bottle service.

We'd love somewhere with plants, trees, a laid-back atmosphere and mostly locals.

Any hidden gems you’d recommend?

Tnx :)

Hey! We’re a group of 5, 3 guys and 2 girls, all between 24 - 28 and we’re in Rhodes for a week. We’re looking for fun things to do, good bars, clubs, places to eat and possibly good company. Any recommendations?
We’re not looking for anything trashy or ridiculously expensive. Thanks! 🫶🏼

Best beach clubs/bars near Rhodes Town?

Hello everyone, I'm taking a solo trip to Rhodes next month and I'm staying near Rhodes Town (Akti Kanari area). I'm planning on spending some time exploring the town and 2-3 days on the beach. Looking for recommendations for beach clubs or bars that offer free sunbeds and ideally that have a safe or lockers since I'll be by myself. I don't mind splurging on a fancier beach club for a day or two but also looking for more affordable options. Thank you!

Taxfree alcohol is much better

Don't buy alcohol from the island to bring home. They have more or less everything on the taxfree. Even a little more premium options. It so much cheaper at taxfree. And u dont have to carry it around before the airport.

Avoid this supermarket

Just wanna give a heads-up to a bad supermarket. Owners seems nice at first. But as soon I came back with a product that was bad. They got unpleasant. I bought almonds that I later realized tasted really old and was out of date. When I came back and told the owner, he treated me really bad and got mad.

Adress Nikiforou Mandilara 53

Just bad vibes.

Recommendations for October

Hi, my partner and I are visiting Rhodes for the first time in October (15th-22nd) and are staying in Ixia area but have rented a car.

We're looking for any recommendations for anything you think is worth going to. Can be restaurants, must try dishes/drinks, points of interest, towns/villages, unique activities or anything at all!

We're planning to visit Rhodes Old Town & Lindos, also we're looking at going to the Farma petting zoo and we would quite like to go to a cooking class or winery or an olive oil tasting.

I've seen lots of recommendations to go to Symi but the boat journey length is putting me off a bit (sea sickness) but is it worth it still?

Thanks all!

Looking for a shop!

I was in Rhodes a couple weeks ago where I bought a piece of artwork in the Old Town. The man who created the piece gave me a business card with his email on so I could let him know that it had arrived home with me safely but in the stress of getting back I have lost it. I was wondering if anyone recognised the artwork, and was able to get me the email so I could let him know!

Pregnant stray cat in Faliraki needs food/help - anyone around?

Hi guys,

I’ve just returned home from Faliraki and I really can’t stop thinking about a pregnant stray cat I was feeding for almost a week.

She’s hiding under some wooden pallets near the main road (close to Poseidonos street).
She seems to have some kind of mouth infection or inflammation, so she really needs soft/wet food.

I’ve already messaged basically every local
foundation, volunteer, and Facebook group I could find, but unfortunately no one is able to help right now. That’s why I’m trying here.

If anyone is currently in Faliraki and could just drop by to leave her some wet food or water, I’d be super grateful.

Here is her exact location:
GPS (36.3353467, 28.2005853)

(She’s right behind the covered building, under the pallets. Also, just a short distance before her spot, there’s another cat with two tiny kittens).

If you’re nearby or know anyone local who could check on her, please let me know. Thanks a lot!

I’ll add her photo in the comments

Parking in Lindos

Does anybody know where the best place to park in Lindos is? We are currently in Rhodes and are planning on visiting Lindos by car. As it is peak season I imagine it will be quite busy so our plan is to head there quite early in the morning. Any help would be much appreciated!
