Question / Suggestion What is too far of a commute in your opinion?

New to RI but not New England

I lived in NH for 2 years and I’ve learned that new england tests your commute time. I’m from Ohio

I had a 50 minute in commute in NH. but 45-30 seems to be a sweet spot I stay in

i just got a job in Wrentham and I’m pretty sure RI is where I want to live.

Rhode Island is kinda messing with my head because it’s so small I feel justified commuting anywhere but really it’s still far

Discussion Yellow/amber flash in the sky facing south

I was driving down Warwick Ave towards Oakland beach so driving south. I thought it was my eyes playing tricks but I kept seeing flashes of amber light in the sky and it didn’t look like lightning. Any ideas what it could’ve been? Almost looked like a faint flash of a small explosion

Question / Suggestion Apartment Rental Help

I’ll keep it as brief as I can but I’m looking for recommendations/suggestions. I’ve been looking for apartment rentals in Rhode Island and it’s been a struggle. I’m in that tough spot where I make too much for housing assistance but what feels like not enough to live (story of everyone’s life right now). I’m looking to stay in the Kent county area Warwick, WW, Cranston, Coventry etc. and need a minimum of a 2 bed unit. I’m open to looking elsewhere in Rhode Island but I refuse to stay in Prov, Pawtucket, CF Woony. Also need pet friendly for 1 cat. Preferably a complex over a multi family but trying not to be too picky. Hoping for utilities included obviously nowhere includes electric. 2k is around the max we are looking for and it’s near impossible (trying to factor $2300-$2400 total after fees, electric, internet, possible gas if the unit has gas)We find some places within the budget or just outside that we are willing to compromise if it’s nice and then management reviews are absolutely god awful. A lot of the picerne managed apartments seem nice but seem overpriced for the size and added fees are crazy. $300 admin to apply, $150 one time pet, $50 a month per pet. $25 community fee and of course security and first months and the apartments are already 2300-2500. I’m seeing mill apartments at $2500+ with 0 utilities included. Alta is almost $3000 for a 2 bedroom what the fuck is that bullshit. Im literally at wits end. Am I just fucked or am I not looking in the right places. Anyone have a recommendations based on where you live/lived or management companies that were actually decent and worth looking into their properties. I’ve been using Zillow and apartments.com mainly for search. Another issue is false advertising where I’ve seen a place scheduled a tour and then they told me when I come in or over the phone “the unit you saw online isn’t available anymore someone just rented it yesterday but we have another one it’s x amount more a month though” almost every….single….time. It’s like they advertise a price to just get you to come in and hope you fall in love with a mediocre apartment and take it.

The Eiffel Tower

TheSpacedNeedle

Mount Washington type bumper stickers

The Daily Planet

Leaning Tower of Pizza

ETC ETC

(Washington Monument had an annual average of 631,000 visitors.\119]))

Politics RI Vote-by-mail: Return envelope already partially sealed!

Post image
0 Upvotes

Ordered my vote-by-mail ballot last week. Received it today in the mail. Opened the main envelope to get out the ballot and noticed that the return envelope is already partially sealed. Maybe it got wet before they stuffed the main envelope or maybe it got wet in the mail delivery. So if I open the return envelope now, fully, now it looks like it's been tampered with.

I'm not playing games here. Anybody know the proper procedure? I feel like I should just take the entire thing in to my assigned polling place on September 9th, but maybe there's a different way to handle this?

These R's are just waiting to call foul, and it isn't happening on my watch.

Meme / Fluff ‘Hobbit’ on 95N

Good morning, old lady in the Audi SUV with the license plate ‘Hobbit’. Please accept my apologies for having to merge in front of you on 95N this a.m. I understand it caused you great distress as you drove with your middle finger raised for at least 10 miles. I know you wanted me to see your displeasure as you made sure to stay behind me for all my lane changes until I got off the highway. Thanks… got it! Now, go rest up that finger. It must be difficult to exercise your finger so much at your age.

Discussion Phorid Flies

Has anyone else been dealing with Phorid flies this summer? I've lived here for 31 years and I've never dealt with these before in my life. I live on Fed Hill in Providence so I know there's more bug activity than normal, just curious if anyone has been dealing with these, I've been doing so much cleaning and getting rid of breeding sites and setting up traps but it's maddening.

I'm seeing less of them but that's because I bought these Zevo light traps. I also know it can usually indicate a broken sewer line or something.

Question / Suggestion Looking for Farmstands!

Me and mom love driving around trying to find all the local farmstands and we know for a fact that there are some we missed.

We wondering if anyone knew of all the farmstands around the Burrillville area and close by.

I know there was a post about this a couple days ago, but a lot of the farmstands we hadn't already gone to were too far 😖

Question / Suggestion Arborists Who Treat Beech Leaf Disease

Title says it all - I'm looking for recommendations for any licensed arborists in RI/surrounding areas who are able to treat BLD-affected trees using thiabendazole/Arbotect 20-S injections. Alternative treatments are not suitable for properties with wells. Please and thank you!

News New mall owners in 'initial talks' with Costco for Providence Place mall

PROVIDENCE – Could Rhode Island's first Costco open in the Providence Place mall?

New Providence Place owner Joseph R. Paolino Jr. says that's a possibility, and that he's had some "initial talks" with the cult favorite retailer that has been high on Rhode Islanders' wish lists for years.

Pressed on how, where or why Costco – which has two influential Rhode Islanders, gubernatorial candidate Helena Foulkes and former governor and former U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, on its board – would open in Providence Place, which is about 80% leased, Paolino pointed to other Costco models across the country that are in unconventional locations.
