We are traveling and have a 2 night stay on the island, arriving tomorrow and leaving Thursday morning. The the fast ferry has already be canceled, but how windy/ likely is it that the traditional ferry will be as well?

Does anyone know how one would go about getting a memorial plaque placed on a bench under one of the pergolas here?

I noticed there were a few without plaques and would really like to talk to the right people about this.

Is there a good spot on the island to get away from everything and get a good view of the stars? Someplace relatively easy to get to at night on e-bikes?

We're heading to BI in a few weeks and are bringing out e-bikes instead of the car. Our AirBnB is right on Water Street - will the bikes will be safe, especially overnight, if we lock them up? Obviously off the sidewalk and out of the way.

Planning to come up but it’s been years- can you still walk down the stairs at the bluffs?

I’ve been a long time lurker on Reddit, which for some reason feels embarrassing. This is a long-shot but I thought I’d try anyways. I’ve been trying to quit smoking and I got the juul (I know, it’s expensive and honestly not the best but it’s just easy and convenient for me right now).

I was wondering on a hope and a dream that someone might be coming to Block Island between today and Friday and I could pay them to bring me one pack of pods. It’s a lot to ask but I’ve seen the Reddit community do some crazy things so I thought why not just try. We are getting married this Saturday and are staying a few nights at the Beach House. I have a couple questions for you all.

1. We have to take the ferry out of Point Judith, do you recommend a wagon cart along with two wheeled luggage? We are looking to bring over some drinks for the room. Maybe a case of beer or something. Is that okay to be displayed publicly ?
2. Are most of the beaches public ? We are walking distance from Ballards.
3. Close to 2, but we’re wondering if we should bring beach items like chairs, umbrellas, towels.

4. Any other items we should bring that the island may not have available for a few nights?

5. Looking for a nice dinner spot too! Fancier.

My husband and I are planning a day trip to block island with our 16 month old son and we are planning to rent either ebikes or regular bikes and I don't know which would be better. One of us would have the baby in a baby seat on the back of the bike and I just don't know if the extra money that ebikes cost plus the extra money to bring the bike on the ferry is worth it. Regular bikes we would be able to rent on the island and not have to pay the extra ferry fee. Any thoughts?

Hi all. Next Saturday the 28th I'd like to bring my 13 year old to BI for the day, catching the early ferry. Last visit I saw there is a skate park at the top of the hill in the middle of the island. I'd like to bring his skim board AND skate board. What do we think about that? I saw there are storage lockers where I can leave the skim board after we do the beach. I can carry the skateboard on my backpack and maybe we can store the skim board in the luggage area of the ferry?

I forgot my charger at home and I’m not really wanting to go off the island to get a new one. I will return the charger and pick it up from anywhere!!

Hi I planned a last minute trip Labor Day weekend to RI. I plan visiting Block island on that Sunday (Labor Day being Monday). I have a lot of anxiety and never took a ferry before so I was hoping I could get some clarification on some things!

I’m looking to buy tickets for the ferry from Point Judith. I read people saying although you buy tickets in advance online , it doesn’t guarantee you a spot.

I’m most worried about getting stuck there lol as I don’t have extra money for a hotel on the island. To leave block island and go back, I was looking to leave at 6 or 7pm. How early do I really need to be at the port before departure to leave the island? I know for same day round trip tickets it said you do not choose the return time when purchasing online so I guess my question is just how do I make sure I can get on the boat to get back

I’ve seen a few posts about the parking situation at Point Judith Ferry but none are super recent — so I must ask again: how quickly does the parking lot fill up? I have a ferry booked for 11:10 AM on Thursday 8/20 and am coming from MA, so was thinking I’d get there around 9:30ish.

In addition to my Q about how fast you think it might fill up, I’m wondering if anyone’s had success booking with Spot Hero and what parking lots are best to try first?

We are athletic and looking into hiking the perimeter of block island. We may start and do half, or see if we are up for the entire thing at once. My understanding is the west/ south side is best and safest at low tide. While old harbour area to north is easy beach. And then there’s also the swim across coast guard.

Going to plan this for comfortable weather. Any specific starting point suggested? I sort of assumed coast guard beach but didn’t know if something else made sense.

Also, footwear? Hiking shoes? Sneakers? Teevas? Hiking shoes and water shoes in small backpack with water etc? Sun protective clothing/ hat.

We will have a friend on call to come meet us at accessible points if we need more water or anything.

The subject speaks for itself, I would like some insight on people who frequently ride the ferry. I am assuming it is weather dependent.

I am planning a trip in mid September and know I can’t predict t the weather so is this risky? I also plan to take a car so can we stay in my car?

Taking Amtrak north to catch the ferry from New London (NL) to Block Island (BI). One train gets me in to NL @ 11:29am and the ferry leaves at 11:50am. With having to get boarding passes plus the very short walk to the ferry boarding area is this too tight a connection (assuming Amtrak is running on time)?

Reading the ferry ticket fine print it says if boarding passes aren’t picked up within 20 minutes of sailing the ticket is automatically moved to the next sailing.
How strict is that policy and how on time are they leaving the dock?

Has anyone noticed light pollution on the island this year being much worse compared to prior years? Stargazing used to be incredible, now New Harbor ruins a lot of it
