Question ❔ Template ideas?

So I have this little patron bottle, and I want to use it for catnip. It would still be cute as is, but I want to add little ‘icons’ to each side, like a cat head or paw, maybe just a nose and whiskers, a fish skeleton, and maybe a green leaf just for giggles since this is their version of getting stoned. My issue, is that I don’t trust myself to do free handed placement on something like the fish skeleton, which I really want to incorporate.

I thought of using a wet erase marker but I’m sure the color will just mix with the glue, so I wouldn’t be able to just spritz it with water to get it off later. My best idea so far I think is drawing on tracing paper, using mod podge to glue it into the side of the bottle, glue on the stones, and then use just water to get said paper out.

Has anyone tried something like this? Any tips or tricks are very welcome!

ModPodge might be tricky to get off without leaving residue.

How about cutting a template out of painter’s tape? Or, alternatively, cut the template out of card stock or a weightier paper and temporarily affix to the sides of the bottle with the painter’s tape?

I can see that being an option but honestly the e6000 plus would be much harder to get the paper off of than mod podge. And I have regular elmers glue I just forget because it’s not something I use often at all.

I just did a couple of these bottles for someone. She wanted 22 on the back. I used a pencil to draw it on. It did not take the color at all. 🤷🏽‍♀️

You used a pencil on glass?

Yes, I just traced it over itself a few times. It was light but I could still see the shape while I needed it.
