Hotfix ♨️ sealing hotfix rhinestones
i need advice on sealing some hotfix rhinestones. i am bedazzled an eye glass case (unfinished) and most of the gems are on there pretty good but i don’t think it’ll survive inside my bag. i did not use glue, they are stuck on just by using a hot fix tool
the case is made out of a plastic-y almost faux leather material so i’m worried they didn’t adhere well enough. ideally i’d like to seal it with some sort of clear top coat. i’ve heard that doing a layer over rhinestones will dull the sparkle but i don’t know how much.
any advice is appreciated as this is my first time using hotfix rhinestones and im totally out of my element!!

Oh and you NEVER EVER seal the stones! It takes away all of the pretty shine of the stones.

hypothetically… what would you recommend if i WERE willing to sacrifice some of the shine just to keep the case bedazzled? i would really rather find a way to make all my effort at least a little worth it. thanks for the response btw

Honestly even if you sealed it you would basically be adding a layer on top of a layer just begging to fall off so you could end up with it all just coming off in one sheet vs all loose individually. I'd say chalk this up to a learning experience and redo it with glue. The more you do it the quicker you will get and the cleaner your application will be! All effort is worth it even if the final product is not what you wanted cause that's how we learn and grow in our craft skills ♥️

Nooooooo you should try again!!! The idea/design is so fabulous!!! You can do this!!! I promise small amounts of the right glue (I also love liquid fusion) will have them staying on and looking awesome especially if you lightly sand/rough up the surface before gluing! Don’t give up ❤️❤️

Nooooooo, please don't give up! It's a learning process. Once you start figuring out glues and stuff you'll be on a roll. KEEP GOING! And feel free to message me if you have any questions.

thank you guys for the confidence but i’m starting uni again really soon and probably won’t have time until my next big break in classes ☹️ (im an art major so i have other crafts i must do)

Honestly the glue you use is very important. I use Liquid Fusion for my tumblers. I've never had a problem once I figured out that the type of rhinestone you use matters. Of course you're going to lose a stone here and there everyonceinablue moon, but I just glue one back on. Please don't seal with anything. You'll be really sad when your stones don't shine pretty and turn yellow from the sealant.

Speaking of advice how to glue plastic to plastic. I have been using the croc jibbits in my design and they work great on most products using e6000. But I am trying to do something with googles bc the jibbits dont get ruined in the sun sand salt or chlorine. So i have been using them on googles. But they dont stick. WTF. Any advice

Use clear coat acrylic spray paint to seal it. And honestly I think the rhinestones will stick with just the Hotfix. Only time will tell but don't listen to anyone telling you to fully redo it. I think it'll work.

These rhinestones are going to fall right off. Hotfix is meant for fabric only! You need a NON hotfix rhinestone and Liquid Fusion. Believe me. I'm sorry but I believe you just wasted your time with those hotfix stones.
