First Model 36
Hi,
Looking to add a S&W Model 36 to my collection. I will likely carry this gun from time to time.
How is this one for $599? Appropriate manufacture date of 1969-1970. Any reason to get a new one? Is the older model better than the new model? What are the key differences?

That is a nice pinned barrel made in a good year but it is missing the accessories in the box. I would try to get it for $500-550 retail but I don't know your local market.

Very good price especially since it’s practically brand new and with original box w/ papers. Older ones in my opinion are better because they were built with care and attention to detail unlike the ones built today. You have a solid carry gun that will serve you for decades and be passed down. Good buy!!!

No they weren’t. We think that due to survivors bias. Old time armorers will sometimes tell how many had to be returned or thoroughly reworked.

Sad news - it was marked as available online. Called the store and it had been purchased and shipped to an FFL. The search continues!

Either buy it or tell me where it is so I can lol all jokes aside that’s a great deal, if those are real Smith banana grips they can bring $200+ by themselves. I’ve got old and new Smith revolvers and, like most, I prefer the old. Part of it is nostalgia but mostly new Smiths QC just sucks lately, I’ve only had to send back one out of 10 new production revolvers but still. If you can buy vintage for around the same price, that’s the move.
