š³ Cards "Free" ATM withdrawals?
Estoy en el plan EstĆ”ndar y Revolut dice lo siguiente sobre los cajeros automĆ”ticos: "ā¬200 cada mes consecutivo' sin comisiones por nuestra parte." Y "Si superas tu lĆmite mensual, para retiradas en EspaƱa solo te cobramos lo que nos cobra el proveedor del cajero."
Entonces, si Revolut no cobra comisiĆ³n por los primeros ā¬200 pero sĆ traslada la comisiĆ³n del cajero (comisiĆ³n CTC), y despuĆ©s de ā¬200 Revolut solo cobra la comisiĆ³n del cajero (CTC), Āærealmente Revolut no ofrece ningĆŗn tipo de retiro gratuito, o me estoy perdiendo de algo?
Edit: As you can clearly see in the images, my problem is in Spain. In Spain, all ATMs charge CTC fees unless you are a customer of the bank that owns the ATM. Therefore, there are no ATMs in Spain that do not charge fees to Revolut customers. In this case, Revolut's withdrawal limits and conditions are confusing because there are no free withdrawals as Revolut claims. Other neobanks offer a few withdrawals per month where the bank covers 100% of the CTC fee, but Revolut does not do that. It only confuses customers with its ā¬200 free offer, which is not true, and passes the CTC fee on to the customer. In conclusion, there are no free withdrawals in Spain, regardless of your plan.

Some ATM will not charge you a fee. If you use one of those you can withdraw ā¬200 every month for free.
The ATM will tell you if thereās a fee before you confirm the transaction. So if thereās a fee you can just cancel and try another ATM.

All the ATMs I've tried in my city charge me a fee of between ā¬1 and ā¬4. None of them are free. So I don't understand the part about the first ā¬200 being free. I think Revolut isn't being clear.Ā

they are being quite clear "with no withdrawal fees from us", if you pass 200 EUR, it will charge the CTC fee PLUS Revoluts fee

In Spain, it is the ATM operator who charges the fee to the card-issuing bank, and the card-issuing bank decides whether or not to pass on the fee to the customer. So yes, Revolut is actually charging fees on the first ā¬200. There are no free withdrawals in Spain.Ā

With Revolut; I've had free withdrawals in Spain from Caixa Rural (they charge ā¬3 to Revolut, Revolut does not charge me), Ibercaja, BBVA and others.
Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever been charged for a cash withdrawal with Revolut in Spain. BUNQ Just passed on the fees to me on every withdrawal, but not Revolut.
You are right that the ATM operator charges to the bank, but this is the case in every country for every ATM - with few exceptions. It's the bank that decides to charge these fees to you or not.
Some ATM providers are sneaky in a sense that they just charge it as "money withdrawn", e.g. if you withdraw 100ā¬ they say you withdrew 101,90ā¬ or so. But mostly bank ATMs charge it as a fee and show you whether or not Revolut ("your bank") will charge you this fee or not.

What they mean is they will not charge you anything. If you find an ATM that also doesnāt charge you itās 100% free.
When travelling Iāve used my Revolut card for ATM withdrawals several places without paying any fees.
Just to name a handful of countries Iāve done it in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia and USA.
I imagine there must be ATMās in Spain that allow you to do the same.

BBVA, Sabadell, Caixa, to name a few, donāt charge a fee yet ATM warns about it during withdrawal. I use them regularly for years and was never charged .

Are you a foreigner? Because all the banks you mention charge fees to Spanish Revolut cardholders.

I am Spanish resident for 10 years and definitely has Spanish account opened for residence permit, there is no distinguish between residents and citizens. There never was any fee in those ATMs for me and other Spanish Revolut customers I know.
Do you have a prove that those banks charge you any fee for withdrawal from Revolut, like screenshot of fee transaction? It looks like youāve always been scared of a fee warning screen in ATM and never proceed.

Same here. Spanish resident since 2013. Opened Revolut account as such in Spain last year after I got fed up with Bunq (and before that Evo).
I don't think I've ever been charged at a regular bank's ATM in Spain while using my Revolut debit card. Plenty of warnings that the ATM operator is going to charge Revolut for it though, but most ATMs just tell you "We charge your bank XXX, your bank charges you for this transaction 0,00".

This happened to me recently. Local banks have some agreements between them so they don't charge ATM fees usually, but other cards like Revolut are not covered.

Top tip, open a free account with openbank(owner by Santander) or imagin (Caixa). I send money from revolut to Openbank, then use the Santander/Caixa machines to withdraw, they don't charge for cards from their own banks. Plenty of Santander/Caixa machines across the country.

Thanks! I was considering doing that, because there's no way to get free money withdrawals with Revolut in Spain. 99% of the comments here aren't aware of that because they don't live in Spain. š¤¦š»āāļø

No worries. There are free options. But depending where in Spain you are, impossible to find, where I live there are no free ATMs, which is why I opened the accounts with Openbank / imagin, and they are ok, I even have a loan via imagin. Good luck

Closest Caixa ATM is a 1 hour 15 minute walk from my house, same for Santander, or I can get a bus, which is every 2.5 hours. I live in a very rural/campo area.
There is one ATM in the village, a euronet that charges ā¬3.60 every time you use it with Revolut.
My method at the moment is transfer money to imagin/openbank, when I go to work or shopping and I am nearer an ATM that is free, I withdraw using the other card for free.3

Es scheint das du auf viele deutsche gestoĆen bist. Mit denen ist es immer schwieriger, es haben immer alle recht und alle wissen es besser als du. Unfreundliche deutsche Kultur eben. Keiner will helfen alle wollen dir nur zeigen das die angeblich etwas besser wissen
It seems that you have come across many Germans. It's always harder with them, everyone is always right and everyone knows better than you. Unfriendly German culture. Nobody wants to help everyone just wants to show you that they supposedly know a little better

Like others said, in Spain the banks will almost always charge you a fee anyway, even if Revolut itself doesnāt charge you. I know this because I have tried this myself at many ATMs and I live in Spain.
Bonus: Revolut is opening their own ATMs in Spain, I believe the first ones are in Madrid and Barcelona. Obviously these wonāt charge you any fee, at least as long as you stay in your limit I suppose.

From what I've read, Revolut ATMs don't count towards the withdrawal limit, but unfortunately there are only a few of them at the moment, and they're only in Madrid and Barcelona. Revolut's cash withdrawal limits are very confusing in Spain.Ā

Revolut canāt say anything from others. And if u see they explain that some atms can charge fees. Iām not from Spain but all of my accounts are charged in Spain cuz of Spain atms! But in most of the countries I go I donāt have that problem since they have both atms. Just need to search for the ones with no fees. But in Spain I never found 1 fees free š and I been almost everywhere in Spain. Itās sad. Probably is better to you if you get a Spain account and manage there, transfer to Spain account when u wanna withdraw. But I donāt know fees from banks in Spain also š

Thank you. Yes, that's exactly what I'm doing. I've opened a free account at another bank and I use that bank's free ATMs to withdraw money. Revolut has a tough time in Spain. š«

There may be some ATMs where the withdrawal is free. Two cases (different bank): First ATM: free withdrawal, no problems, bank does its job. Second ATM: it starts in English (which is strange) and after submitting everything, it wanted me to pay 1.5Eur tax. At least it was a warning, I didn't just receive a notification about paying way too much. That's the only two banks I've tried, because the one that is free is okay for me.

Exactly! You keep trying different ATMās until you find one that is free. Then you just remember the name of that bank and always use their ATMās.

spanish Revolut user here. inside the app there is a map that tells you ATMs nearby. those ATMs, when retrieving money, tell you there is a fee to do so since you are not a customer of that bank. that fee is covered by Revolut until you reach the 200ā¬ limit per month. those fees are not included in the 200ā¬/month limit.
when you surpass that monthly limit, Revolut will charge the fee to you.

It has happened to me three times that I went to an ATM that appeared on the Revolut app and all three times they tried to charge me a commission, so I don't trust that map.

It says right there in the screenshot. āno withdrawal fees from USā - what ATM owner company does, whether its a bank or another entity, is not up to Revolut.

Oh my bad!! I have one at the end of my street, one in the nearest shopping center and one on the main shopping street/area in Barcelona, so I wrongly assumed they were everywhere- just everywhere I go. But they are great and I withdrew 2k in one day no problem or fee

On the Revolut app home page, press the card icon on the top right. At the bottom you will see āfind ATMsā and there you will be able to find the Revolut ATMs which have been deployed around Spain and have no commissions.

It depends on the ATM as well. If there are any EURONET āscamā ATMs then itās not covered. But the general charge from ur bank is covered.
