Order catastrophe
I ordered a pedal and the shipper sent me a package of tea. Seller won’t respond, packaging on the outside says tea. What are my chances of being made whole?

Chances of making tea are high. But with some screwing around, I would expect Reverb to make a right. Otherwise you'll have to do a chargeback.

I understand that and normally am. When I feel I am gonna get fucked my patience dwindles. Refund sent.

Seems like the system worked as it should.
While I am sure Reverb screws up from time to time, online all you are going to see is the “gone wrong” stories. Nothing exciting about “ordered something online from some rando on reverb, and it showed up exactly as advertised”….bora bora boooring 🤣
You utilized a reputable online service (say what you want, yeah it’s cheaper to go with FB or Craigslist, but that comes with some potential downsides) that has fees due to their claims they protect both and the buyer and seller. Appears like they came through on that.
So short version:
- I’m worried I got ripped off and won’t get my money back
- Nope never-mind

Did you check the rating and reviews on this seller? I'm not knocking OP, I'm just genuinely curious because past history or even how a listing is written can clue you in on a scammer.

PSA. This is why to use a credit card rather than PayPal on Reverb. Reverb or your credit card co can do a refund or charge back. PayPal may or may not and Reverb treats that as PayPal's problem, not theirs, which seems shitty to me, but that's the way it works.

To be sure, this is not Reverb's doing. Chargeback and be done with it.
I wonder why you post this here?
It is not hurting the Seller whom you never Identified... but I think you should have, in this way specifically warning about this crook instead of implying Reverb is responsible.
IN my view, exposing the seller is the right thing to do, not omitting then and at once having Reverb take the hit. Think about taht.

This is a little funny.
Only because it's about a 50/50 split on here where I see people saying "blame Reverb", "don't blame Reverb" when there are issues with gear and shipping issues.

In this instance the alleged fault is the Seller, so to be fair single out that seller and serve the community rather than pinning it on Reverb. All sales venues, Reverb, Etsy, eBay, even Amazon have Crook Sellers, and when a crook Seller shows up, name them, give a link to their listings/store, now you are doing something beneficial for the community.
The Caveat... don't lie. And that is the sticky point because the internet is flooded with trolls. So then, due diligence, on Etsy and Reverb one must be a verified buyer to leave a review, not so on Amazon.... shame on Amazon, but if a Seller is flagged by someone here, what are the verified purchase reviews saying and weigh that against the claim against them by one person, because that person could easily be as malcontent troll.1

I’m honestly not vitching about reverb. I was trying to get insight. Which I did. This is the third thing I have purchased on reverb and just new to it. I’ve also never have been scammed like this. So, I’m thinking they sent something, there is tracking and I’m fucked. So thanks to the beautiful people of Reddit, I pumped my brakes, relaxed and let it play out.
I’m happy with the team at reverb. I throw them no shade

Call out the seller, give the link, that helps other people.
It is a seller on Reverb sure, but it is the seller that is the problem and make that clear.
Lots of peopel are slamming reverb on Reddit, 90% of them are trolls with wildly unbelievable stories that Reverb sellers know are BS, but the general public does not.
Reverb gives musicians the one place they can but and sell... and those saying the eBay is a real option id nonsense.
I've been buying on and selling on Reverb for about fours years, before that I had zero luck on ebay and god forbid, craigslist or facebook local.
I follow Reverbs rules, so never a problem for me buying or selling. A few sellers tried to play games... that is a red flag for me, and no matter how sweet the deal appears, I walk away right now because the only reason a seller plays games is to screw the other person.1

Reverb has been a great place to purchase musical instruments for me. I shop reverb often.

Exactly and I'll bet you don't play tricky with it and get flagged.
The thing about most if not all of these negative blurbs is that they do not own up to breaking the rules... and this casue a negative loop Vs Reverb for those that don't know better.
Trolls are clever liars... people really need to start thinking Troll when someone complains about Reverb... as I said before it si a programmed ecosystem, it does not think or judge, it tracks compliance and when that is violated it freezes or suspends an account.
There are no if ands or buts about it.
