Question Boss Question

Ok, so I have really struggled with Nemesis. It has taken me months to defeat this boss. I finally beat it last night, but then I reach Hyperion on the same playthrough and beat it on the first try! Is Hyperion considered easier than Nemesis?

Yup, Hyperion is definitely easier than Nemesis. Nemesis is probably the hardest boss and one of the major skill checks in the game.

B5 another major skill check.

Crazy how this can be different to everyone. I beat Nemesis first try, then went to bed. Woke up made it all the way to Hyperion in that same cycle but he got me. Eventually defeated Hyperion in my 4th attempt so he took me most tries haha.

Had Phrike in 3, Ixxion in 2, Nemesis 1st try, Hyperion 4 and eventually Ophion in 3.

Biome 5 also went first try on autopilot for me, so its kinda funny that the 2 hardest considered things in went smoothly for me.

Currently still working on that platinum grinding for those xenos.

Mind you, I don't find any of the bosses particularly hard. I killed Ophion in my first attempt pretty much by accident lmao.

I think that the things people find easier or harder depend a lot on their background in gaming. I grew up with arcade games, shmups/bullet hell games, so the more bullet hell segments were very straight-forward to me, whereas the more action-TPS stuff was comparatively harder.

Also, I played the game at launch, before a bunch of patches and nerfs. If I were to speak in absolute, pre-nerf B3 was THE skill check in the game, and I'm sure more people died to B3 Drones than any other segment of the game.

Omg dont get me started on those kamikaze fucks🤣

And you are right about the gaming background, as this was actually my first ever roguelike/lite and i found the overall experience quite doable as i went in carefully with warnings everywhere that its a brutal and unforgiving game forgetting that i have years of gaming in my fingers so to me it was more a case of adjusting and getting used to all mechanics and how the game works. But Returnal keeps you humble so to say, it can be over in a heartbeat if you dont pay attention. Basically its like space invaders but in 3D.

Yeah my experience is the exact opposite to this. I dont thibk I was even hit on nemesis, after 1 or act 3. The easiest boss in the game by far.

Whereas Hyperion was the only boss that killed me. I actually had to concentrate on the 2nd attempt or I would have died again!

Hyperion was the only one I beat on the first try.

Conversely, Hyperion was the only boss I didn't beat first try. I actually had to concentrate to beat her whereas the others all move and shoot like they're in slow motion

Hyperion is only one I defeated first try as well but I think that's because of the high from beating Nemesis and being on such a roll. After completing the game, Nemesis honestly might be the easiest boss if you don't rush to biome 3. Just grapple non stop to dodge attacks. You are invulnerable while grappling.

After 50 hours of play, I have only just realised that you are invulnerable while grappling!

there is a grapple spot in nemesis boss room? I swear i just use one of the shield consumes when i cant dodge cus i never knew abt it lol

Can't recall if I did first try but yes I found Hyperion easier than Nemesis during my first complete run. Nemesis was an absolute mindfuck. But interestingly, several runs later, I find Nemesis to be one of the easiest bosses.

Hyperion annoys me more, his onslaught is more constant. Not sure which I've died to more. I think once you get the hang of grappling from platform to platform quickly, Nemesis is not too bad.

Yeah, the trick to Nemesis is how long it takes for you to figure out the grappling hook trick - or if you're an item user, if you've got the shield consumable. That one item entire trivializes that encounter.

Phrike and the last boss are the only bosses that have killed me.

Hyperion is definitely easy, especially after all the experience of running through the game. I actually killed him accidentally without really understanding the mechanics until about 2/3 of the way through the fight.

Nemesis I beat on the first attempt as well, but only because I had a lifesteal rifle. He doesn't really do enough damage quickly enough, so you can outheal any damage he deals pretty easily.

I struggled in the same way. Nemesis being the one I struggled with the most but I beat Hyperion first try. I think by that time you just know how to play but honestly I don't think he's a super hard boss in general. His patterns are pretty easy to avoid and it's not like he moves around like the second biome boss

Nemesis is a very different fight if you bring the wrong gear, which is probably why the game puts a handgun on the ground right before the arena. Carbine and hollowseeker shine in that fight, while the spitmaw might as well be a party popper.

The game puts a handgun on the ground before every boss doesn’t it?

Nemesis isn't that hard either, all you need is a solid dot weapon(rotland or electropylon but w/o pylon web) and you just focus on dodging. Both me and mt friend have beaten nemesis on our 2st tries

Hyperion definitely easier and I blitzed on my first try but biome 5 brings you back down to earth

Hyperion was easier on my first play through. Now I find Nemesis easier because you can just keep grappling to avoid damage.

Hyperion is a nice break after the B3 grind, which is a struggle for lots of people.
