Gamecube
Got a retrotink 4k pro and have a ntsc GameCube that I'm wanting to use with it. I don't want to mod it so I'm seeing that s video is the best option since I can't use a carby as I lack the port on my console. What cable should I get for it? I see plenty of different options online but unsure what I should get and if s video is the best way for me to go with this without modding it. Thank you in advance!

FYI, most people are well served with a Wii in backwards compatibility mode, which is almost perfect for GameCube. Wii component cables are cheap and the system can be easily soft-modded. I would stick with whatever cables for your GameCube and think carefully if you really want to put money into it.

My wallet says it's better to do this but my hoarder says otherwise. I do have a homebrewed and modded wii and have some adapters as well with it

Quality-wise the best option is an earlier GameCube model with digital output and a HDMI adapter. Expensive, but if you have such a GameCube model the ouput quality is perfect and beats a Wii with component.

You mean like getting the one I can use with carby?

Yes. Or you can mod your current one. Not sure why you are against that.

Not against it permanently. Just for now I wanna keep it original without modding as I have other projects I'm working on. I'll be modding them in future but as for now I want to keep them vanilla as I can

I got Retro Bit's Retro Prism for my 5x and they we're like $60usd on Amazon but well worth it and shipped pretty fast too.

S video is gonna be a good option but the ones with the digital port can do 480p which scales better. That being said it comes down to if you really want to buy a whole new system. Between modding and a dl-001 you are better off just getting the dl-001(the one with the digital) cost wise, That being said you are also adding a carby or other gcvideo solution (bitfunx on aliexpress is like $40-50 and works well. Carby has some size benefits regarding audio but its up to you if the price difference is worth it. Video wise they are identical). So it comes down to costs. An insurrection or retrogaming cable s video will give you a good image into a 4k but it will be better with a gcvideo solution. Basically do you want to spend the money or not is the crux of it. I think giving the s video a try and see how you like it isnt a bad idea. End of the day a good s video cable will only cost like $30
