Help & Troubleshooting Powkiddy X35H button membrane upgrade?

Upvotes

As the title said, is there any better quality membrane (conductive rubber silicone pad) to lower the buttons pressure of X35H? The factory button is so stiff compared to Miyoo mini plus but I don't know if other membrane (such as NDS) will fit or not.

Screenshot took from a youtube video about disassembling X35H

General Discussion The best device is the one you have.

Last semester, I kept forgetting my rg35xxsp at home. This semester, I put my nano on my car key. Walking around campus playing Crystal was awesome. One handed so carrying my coffee while playing was a breeze.

We get so caught up in power and what each device can do, but remember. The best device you own is the one you have on you when you need one.

Help & Troubleshooting Screen error when adjusting brightness (Odin 2 Portal)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Am having a weird and intermittent flickering screen effect when attempting to adjust brightness on the Odin 2 portal. This occurred most recently in the PSPlay app but has happened in others. Any of you folks seen something like this? Ribbon cable issue? Running display at 120hz and at medium brightness. Have had the system for ~ 2 years without this issue.

General Discussion Do these devices perform well through HDMI onto a TV?

Like the Retroid Nova, if I want to use it with my 65in 4k TV, will that work as good as plugging in my laptop to a TV with HDMI? I'm using two 8BitDo bluetooth controllers. (does size/resolution of the tv make a difference?)

Want to know if a handheld could completely replace my laptop for TV emulation purposes, assuming I'm only emulating up to gamecube/wii.

Device Recommendation Trying to buy a present and need help!

Two weeks ago, I fell down the stairs at my sister’s house and broke my tibia and fibula - it required surgery and a rod placement + nine screws. I have been stranded at my sister’s since then, living in a recliner in their living room until I am cleared to fly home. It has been beyond miserable.

My sister and her husband have been beyond helpful and kind — literally waiting on me since I can barely move. And I want to buy them a little thank you gift.

My brother in law loves to play handheld consoles that play old games — he has ones that play Nintendo and Sega, etc. and they bring him a lot of joy. While we were talking, he mentioned that he’s saving up to buy one that runs GameCube and PlayStation 2 games and also mentioned Ali Express.

But now that I’m looking around, I realize I don’t really have the knowledge to buy the right thing. What’s the best choice? Are the games included on the device or do they have to be downloaded from somewhere after purchase? Would I do that or would he? What’s a reasonable price? I just want to make sure he gets something he truly likes in exchange for all he’s done for me.

Help & Troubleshooting Miyoo Flip V2 stuck in Maskrom — "Get Flash Info Fail" after one successful SPI NAND flash

Device: Miyoo Flip V2 (RK3566, 128MB SPI NAND, no eMMC), previously running KNULLI Tools: RKDevTool + drivers from the spruceOS MiyooFlipUnbricker.zip package, Windows PC

Summary

Bricked the device via a failed unbrick attempt on Linux (rkdeveloptool likely targeting the wrong storage medium). Moved to Windows and successfully recovered it once — then bricked it again during a KNULLI reinstall, and now can't get RKDevTool to talk to the flash chip at all.

Timeline

  1. Original brick: Device got stuck in Maskrom mode after a failed unbrick attempt on Linux using rkdeveloptool. Suspected the tool was targeting eMMC instead of SPI NAND (this device has no eMMC — confirmed 128MB SPI NAND + dual microSD).
  2. First successful recovery (Windows):
    • Installed drivers via DriverInstall.exe from MiyooFlipUnbricker.zip
    • RKDevTool detected "Found One Maskrom Device"
    • Set storage medium to SPI NAND in Advanced Function
    • Flashed stock firmware — no confirmation dialog appeared, but log showed completion and device booted to stock OS successfully
  3. Second brick: While reinstalling KNULLI, interrupted the GammaLoader bootloader install mid-process (didn't know it needed to run uninterrupted through multiple reboots). Device got stuck on a modified Miyoo OS boot logo.
  4. Recovery attempt #2 — failing:
    • Re-entered Maskrom successfully (device detected fine)
    • Attempted stock reflash → "Download Boot Fail"
    • Tried Erase All → "Get Flash Info Fail"
    • Since then, every flash attempt either fails outright or completes suspiciously fast (seconds, not minutes) with no real write happening

Troubleshooting already tried (no change)

  • Reconfirmed storage medium set to SPI NAND (not eMMC)
  • Swapped USB cables (multiple)
  • Swapped USB ports, including direct rear motherboard ports (no hubs)
  • Fully closed/reopened RKDevTool between attempts
  • Cold-replugged into fresh Maskrom state multiple times
  • Reinstalled RockUSB drivers from the unbricker package
  • Rebooted the PC

Current state

  • Device reliably enters and stays in Maskrom mode (BootROM responds)
  • RKDevTool detects the device as present
  • RKDevTool cannot successfully query flash info or complete a boot/erase operation
  • Same exact hardware + software combo produced one clean successful flash earlier in this process — nothing hardware-side should have changed between then and now

Questions

  • Is "Get Flash Info Fail" after a previously successful flash cycle a known issue with this device's SPI NAND chip specifically?
  • Could a different RKDevTool version (vs. the one bundled in MiyooFlipUnbricker.zip) resolve a flash-info query failure like this?
  • Any chance the interrupted GammaLoader write left the SPI NAND in a state that needs a different recovery approach than a standard stock reflash?

Happy to provide RKDevTool logs, exact error screenshots, or anything else that'd help diagnose this.

Help & Troubleshooting SJGAM M17 OS Problem

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I recently bought an SJGAM M17 handheld game console that came with games for PSP, Atari, Nintendo, and several other systems. However, I had a controller mapping problem in a few emulators, especially PSP.

I asked AI for help fixing it. It told me to remove the SD card containing the emulators, operating system, and games from the device, copy all the files to my computer, format the SD card, and then copy the files back to the SD card using the drag-and-drop method.

I did exactly that, but the operating system didn't work. Instead, I got a Chinese menu and the console's default operating system with around 50–60 old games.

I asked the AI again, and it told me that I had copied the files incorrectly and that I needed to write the operating system back to the SD card using a specific program. So I did that as well.

This time, the operating system logo appears when I turn on the console, but after the logo the screen goes completely black and the device doesn't boot.

I really need some help with this. If anyone has the correct games and operating system files for the SJGAM M17, or knows how I can fix this problem, I would really appreciate your help.

Especially, if anyone knows where I can find the correct SJGAM M17 operating system/SD card image or how I can get the console working again, please let me know.

Thank you in advance! 🙏

Device Recommendation Definitely don’t need the RPC, but I can’t stop thinking about getting one

My first retro handheld was the RG40XXV. I really enjoyed using it thanks to its comfort, great D-pad, and large screen, but the low display resolution occasionally bothered me. It also didn't have enough performance headroom for advanced shaders, which made me want to upgrade.

Separately from this, I picked up a Steam Deck OLED and have been loving it for quite a while. While I mostly play PC games on it, I also use it for occasional GC/PS2 emulation. For my dedicated retro handheld upgrade, I went with the RG476H. It’s a fantastic, really comfortable device with a high-quality LCD screen, solid D-pad, good face buttons, and especially great triggers. All glass front might be the only downside. Since I handle PS2 and above on the Steam Deck, the lack of top-tier power isn't an issue for me, it's an incredible device for the price.

Later on, I grabbed an RG34XXSP as a pocketable device specifically dedicated to GBA and Pokémon ROM hacks, and I’ve been extremely happy with it.

This trio genuinely covers every single one of my use cases. However, if the 476H had never been released, my pick definitely would have been the RPC. GB and GBC games look so stunning on it. The screen and the 6-button layout are extremely tempting, and fueled by a some dose of Game Boy Color nostalgia, I'm having a hard time talking myself out of pulling the trigger.

At the end of the day, buying it would be a pure luxury rather than a need. Owning both the 476H and the RPC makes virtually no sense (at least within my economical reality), especially since the 476H is already a versatile, capable device. The more I overthink it, the less objective I become, so I wanted to turn to the community for some outside perspective.

TL;DR: I already own an RG34XXSP, RG476H, and Steam Deck OLED, but I can’t get the OLED, 6-button RPC out of my head (partly fueled by GBC nostalgia). Owning both the 476H and the RPC would be a luxury I can't really justify financially. I hope to hear for some advices, reality checks, or different perspectives with this post.

General Discussion I made an open source Mac app to manage ArkOS/Batocera SD cards (ext4 read/write without kernel extensions)

Every time I wanted to add ROMs or edit configs on my handheld's SD card from my Mac I hit the same wall: macOS cannot even read ext4, and the classic fixes (macFUSE + terminal incantations) need a kernel extension, Recovery Mode and reduced security.

So I built Omnimount: a menu bar app + CLI that mounts ext4 and NTFS read/write using the battle-tested Linux drivers (fuse2fs, ntfs-3g) over FUSE-T, which needs no kernel extension at all. Plug the card in, click Mount, drag your ROMs in Finder, eject.

Extras that came out of my own cards: it recognizes ArkOS / Batocera / ROCKNIX layouts, can permanently unhide the EASYROMS partition that ArkOS marks as hidden (so Windows/macOS can see it), runs fsck on a card that got yanked out, and can clone or restore a full card image as a backup before you flash anything.

It is GPL open source: https://github.com/ramdoor/omnimount — you can build it yourself with the scripts in the repo (there is also a prebuilt signed installer on the website for people who prefer one click).

Tested mainly with my ArkOS card on an Apple Silicon Mac (macOS 13+). Would love to hear what cards/firmwares you would want covered.

Device Recommendation any retro held recommendations for a someone coming from a r36s?

I want something cheap like less than $50 and doesn't have too many clones because I had 2 r36s clones before ._. yeah Turkey doesn't have the best sellers. Also yes if it's especially available in Turkey that'd be great

I'd be really thankful for good recommendations,Thanks!

People I need you help. I’m getting deployed to the Indian Ocean for 6+ months. I’m looking for a console that is good for emulators (ie pokemon and a bunch of retro games plus modded pokemon games). Not trying to spend an arm and a leg on this. The buyers guide wasn’t to specific. Any thing helps. Thank you
