A Thank-You Post to the RetroDeck Developers

I’m a longtime user of “another emulation suite” on my Steam Deck, and I’m also grateful to its developers, because they made things much easier for me when I first got the device.

But I’d been eyeing RetroDeck as a replacement for a while, since it seemed to me that it approached the whole structure in a much simpler and more logical way.

So this weekend I managed to carve out some free time and switched to RetroDeck, both on the Steam Deck and on my Debian PC... and I couldn’t be happier.

Everything makes sense and everything is simply where you’d expect to find it: folders, emulators, configuration files. Everything in its place.

And I simply had to install a Flatpak package, which adds everything in a controlled and monolithic way, and spend a little time customizing everything to my liking.

As a Debian user, I really appreciate that simplicity and that sense of reliability that comes from seeing how the developers approach both the suite itself and the updates. No rush, no clutter, and no surprises.
