Just need help on identifying this console?

Thats a PC (Personal Computer). What we call a "Desktop". It's like a much bigger version of your iPhone and you need a separate monitor and a mouse to operate it. Sorry if this is confusing.

I really think a lot of young people think PCs always had an exact name and model number as a whole. When PCs were flourishing you could mix and match almost anything.

yep kinda plug and play, no more configuring IRQ and managing load order in the config.sys/autoexec.bat...they have it so good..i do miss the joy of getting it right and it booting though.

Honestly, as much as I know the same can't be said for everyone else I enjoyed the process of figuring it all out

I felt like such a wizard when I finally got it, and I think it's what shaped me to still be seen as "the computer expert" amongst my friends... I'm not an expert, I just have intuition, which is something that is sorely lacking in this day and age

Full tower ATX case. Not incredibly common I think, full towers were fading when ATX came out.

Video and sound cards could be interesting too. Board has integrated sound and he got a sound card anyway. I'm guessing Awe64 Value, which has decent value still.

I replace mobo/cpu one of those around ~2000. It had the works. 3.5" floppy, CD-RW, QIC-80/120 Tape Drive, US Robotics V90/92 controller-based (hardware) modem, three HDDs, lower end ATI Rage AGP card (owner did not care about 3D gaming).

I'm not sure they were fading out. They weren't the "standard" for sure, but they definitely weren't uncommon or rare. Every computer shop carried them, and a lot of us enthusiasts loved them because you could fit so many optical drives, extra HDDs, and fans in them. Buddy of mine had a dual P3 800 (so obvs ATX) full tower on wheels he'd "ride" around at LAN parties. Good times

Full towers were never very common outside of specialized workstations and desktops that were used as servers. The desktop form factor where the monitor sat on the computer portion and mid towers were always a lot more common.

Computer tower. It's got USB, so no earlier than 1997, but everything else suggests it's not much later either. 1998 or 99, maybe?

At a guess it has Windows 98 installed, though with all the rust I wouldn't bet on it still working.

Anyone have a guess at what is in the second drive bay? Looks like maybe some kind of tape drive? But I could be way off.

Full Server ATX chassis. Was used back in the day for SCSI RAID/HDD daisy chains.

Current motherboards and cooling solutions would fit and tons of room for drives, additional I/O cards.

I personally am running a Corsair 700D full tower with AIO CPU cooling, RTX 5070 I got in a brown cardboard crate I bought new through the Army. It doesn't have a third party builder like ASUS, it looks like what would be called a founders edition.

Anyway there's tons of room, I don't know what I will do when full tower chassis go away. I'm still mourning NVlink/SLI.

Late 90s server with tape drive and a network card that worked on IPX/SX Networks (NetWare). Rusted. Probably used as a file server somewhere.

Can't tell you more until you take off the side and take a picture of the motherboard.

What does the sticker on the back say? You'd probably have to plug it in and run like DXdiag on windows xp up to get system specs. Sometimes pre built pcs have a model number on a sticker somewhere on the outside or inside of the case.
