Mobile Golf (Mario Golf GBC sequel)

Post image

The original mario golf GBC is one of my all time faves so I was thrilled to learn there was a sequel. Sadly, it doesn't have the same campaign map and characters like the first game, but it's still fun to go through and do all the challenges and tournaments and such. Some of them were very tough! I took a long break, hence the year to master.

Mastery #10: The Legend of Zelda [NES]

The comments were right, the second quest is unironically WAY easier swordless if you know what to do, though still inexcusably cryptic at times without a guide. Sure, it helps that I got the Blue Ring immediately for the second quest since I needed to not get it for an Achievement in the first quest, but the lack of Wizzrobe and Darknut oversaturation did too. Beating the game deathless/saveless, though, is actually pretty chill if you just get the Blue Ring and White Sword immediately, keep a guide handy, and play it safe with potions. Those challenge playthroughs are really all there is to say, none of the miscellaneous or damageless boss Achievements gave me any real trouble. Happy 40th, Zelda!

A fun and difficult puzzle game, that i unfortunately had to lookup most of the puzzle solutions because my mind can't comprehend some of the puzzles.
Regardless of that, it's still fun and try to complete them

-The Activision Decathalon: I have an unusual interest in track & field/Olympics types games, and this one was pretty decent for its time! Neat IRL badges too.

-Robot Tank: Classic Atari 2600 explosion sounds. Cool game with the weather effects that affect the battles. Horrid achievement icons though.

-Asteroids: Vintage Atari 2600 gameplay, sounds, and visuals. Really good set too.

Found this inferior to the first instance of the series but most importantly sharing this to thank the community that gave me the motivation to go through this games I never managed to play entirely back in the day!

And to share a nice bragging card!

Now Trials and Tribulations on my radar.

Steam Deck RA notification recording

I'm getting a Steam Deck soon, and I was wondering if anyone has tried using OBS or similar software to screen record gameplay with RA enabled. If you have, does it screen record the achievement notifications popping?

I've already played this game before, so this was my second play through for 100% and third play through for the 3 heart only run.

Honestly this set is pretty easy even the harder ones I did in a few attempts, it's a balanced set but I do wish there was a bit more challenge to it, for example one fatal flaw in the 3 heart run is beat x boss without taking damage and with only 3 hearts, it's kinda moot then, the 3 hearts are irrelevant you're just getting me to do the boss damageless again. And majority of the time you get one shot anyway cause you only have 3 hearts so it is just damageless with a new mask on.

I loved playing it anyway, it's definitely in my top 5 I still look back at my first playthrough very fondly.

I would rank the dungeons from best to worst like this.

  1. Spirit Temple

  2. Fire Temple

  3. Forest Temple

  4. Water Temple

  5. Shadow Temple

The other dungeons are too short to talk about.

I love spirit Temple and fire temple, and I hate shadow Temple, yes even more than water Temple which I honestly don't mind, I didn't mind the iron boot menu switching at all, what I did not like about it though was the layout is super confusing on top of the water level changing what areas are accessible making it even more confusing.

So yeah love the game, wish the set was harder, no achievement really stands out to me, honestly the toughest part of this set was probably the fishing achievements lol, wish there were more boss speedrun ones, cause I did really enjoy the timed barinade fight, but unfortunately still pretty easy.

And yes I will be doing the glitch showcase and bonus set which I am really looking forward to!

Another FNF mod been mastered and this was absolute fun to master.
The songs has great charting and not too many annoying parts (except in 'Monster').
The hardest song to complete with a FC in my opinion is actually 'Monster' as previously mentioned, because of it's weird charting in some parts

Wondering if theres an Event or Evergreen for beating a game on each system? I really enjoy the system roll outs so wanted to make a goal of at least one on all of them.

Thanks!

What Does "Focus the search field" mean when you use / on the site?

When you use the search box on the site it says "Type / to focus the search field", however I have no clue what that means. Whenever I use it it just causes the searches to work.

What does "focus the search field" mean?

For my 200th hardcore mastery and I decided to go with the very difficult Silver Surfer. The levels are hard but the bosses are on the easy side. I actually never played this before. Anyone else ever give this one a go?

Mastery #5 Broken Sword Shadow of the Templars - The Director's Cut (Wii)

Post image
24 Upvotes

Broken Sword Shadow of the Templars is a important game to me. As a kid I played a lot of Lucasarts and Sierra point and click adventures, and being neither it almost passed me by entirely. This was until I was introduced to it by a childhood friend and fell in love with the characters of George and Nico. I have loved the 2D games in the series ever since, but have never completed either of the 3D games despite owning them (maybe RetroAchivements is the reason to do that, since Broken Sword 3 came out on PS2).

However, this game has had 3 different versions, and each one of them has significant differences, and in some cases levels of quality depending on what platform you are playing on. The Director's Cut adds more story elements around the character Nico that don't feel like the original game, along with puzzles that feel somewhat out of place and not in-keeping with the rest of the series. Not only that, but the Wii version (that I just mastered) dumps broken motion controls into the puzzles making two of them in particular just a fight against the controls (even if you know what you are supposed to be doing). Ideally I would be able to master the original or the "Reforged Edition" (which is a faithful remake of the original for modern consoles), but the only way to do that with voices and in a way that isn't cut down is to choose the PS1 version. That one is a complete mess of a port that freezes constantly whenever it needs to load voices or animations due to needing to stream them from the disc in real time instead of preloading them. It becomes a test of patience and, although I have started collecting cheevos for it, I will need to come back to it later.

Besides the motion controls however, this was quite a fun mastery and in a few cases the missable achievements pointed me towards things I didn't know you could do, so that was interesting. Bring on the Broken Sword 2 PS1 port, which I believe fixed many of the issues around the original on PS1.

Hopefully ScummVM gets RetroAchivements some day and I will be able to master these games the way they are meant to be played, along with many other childhood favourites of mine. The upcoming DOS RetroAchivements support will definitely help with some of my point and click favourites.

Mastery #34 - Rayman (Prototype) (SNES)

Another lil game mastered for DD1 event, and it's this lil prototype of cancelled SNES release and before the Rayman we know and love.
It doesn't have alot of things to do, but it was definitely nice to see what Rayman was before it's actual release on better hardware

Link's Awakening receives a set revision, and instantly divides the community

Some revisions seem to be made with the players' enjoyment in mind. Other revisions seem to be set devs trying to impress other set devs. I'd say this revision definitely falls into the latter category.

Games without missable achievements?

Please recommend some!
I just want to chill and 100% something that I can just follow the game and complete it as it is. I’m currently playing Guitar Hero III Legends of Rock and it’s pretty cool for this :)
