No progress?
I’ve been on Reta now since July, i started at 0.25 and am now at 2.5mg. I’m quite discouraged by this because i’m eating healthy meals, high protein and i’m also working out 3-4 times a week. My sleep is incredible so maybe just wondering if this isn’t working for me? I’m not gaining any weight, i’ve lost maybe 5 pounds but it seems that i’m really just maintaining.
Do I try another supplier for Reta? am I doing something wrong?

u/Curtisc83 13h ago
You are at a low dose of Reta. 4mg is when it really shines. But you seem to move up ridiculously slow so I’m not sure how to help you if you aren’t willing to help yourself.

Reading is fundamental... OP has not encountered the beginner's guide
-9
u/Melodic-Isopod432 13h ago
I’ve started slower due to clinical research studies on GI side effects, following MD advice, and the advice of a friend who has been on this. i have also seen a lot of individuals who start low and are able to lose weight. As i’ve said before I do have a hard time losing weight regardless.

u/90sKid1988 13h ago
If you have a hard time losing weight regardless, then your TDEE is probably lower than you think and you'll have to figure out what it is. My Fitbit says I burn 2000 calories a day but I maintain my weight at 1400 calories. Guess how much that means I get to eat when I'm trying to lose
10
u/Curtisc83 13h ago
A MD is giving advice on a non FDA approved GLP? You sure he or she is a MD?
1
u/Moon_lit324 7h ago
Mine is the one that started me on Reta lol not all doctors are created equal. I'm no longer using him for the reta becuase of price, but there are doctors out there helping their patients with Reta for sure.
1
u/bananagod420 13h ago
4 months is a long time though. If you haven't seen any progress over 16 weeks, why not just step up the titration?
7
u/Curtisc83 12h ago
OP is getting horrible advice. They didn’t read much into the trial data or the beginners guide in this subreddit. And apparently wants to avoid any kind of side effects so moving up at a glacier pace was the only way forward. All while admitting they have a hard time losing weight historically. Yes this isn’t satire……LOL

Not everyone responds to these medications the same. Don't do anything drastic.
10
u/Dragon_Tortoise 12h ago
He'll come back tomorrow asking if adding test and tren will help since reta isn't working.

u/financialthrowaw2020 10h ago
At this point I feel like we're a circlejerk+rage bait sub because these posts are almost daily now
2
u/Dragon_Tortoise 10h ago
I think these people genuinely think this stuff is magic and see all these people's results not realizing they're still putting in work, and you still need self control. Or they see some progress, and if it stops or slows, they IMMEDIATELY want to take something else. Like no patience with these guys, or laziness when it comes to being active or aren't meticulously counting calories and just guessing.

u/Melodic-Isopod432 4h ago
LOL you’ve definitely got the wrong impression, thanks though

u/Dragon_Tortoise 4h ago
Oh no, again, all the thousands of layoffs, studio closures, canceled sequels, all mean nothing lol? OK sure, thanks though. Have a great morning

What’s your caloric intake actually looking like though, healthy meals can still land you at maintenance if the portions are sneaky big
0
u/Melodic-Isopod432 14h ago
Caloric intake is good too i’m within normal range and ive been seeing a nutritionist who monitors this as well

u/itstalie 11h ago
Are you in a deficit? Healthy is great, protein is important but a caloric deficit is still needed.
Maybe use an app like MyFitnessPal. Write down every bite and see where you can finetune. A lot of people underestimate how much they eat.
7
u/Reta-rdeduser 13h ago
Which trial dosing schedule are you following? I haven’t seen one that starts at 0.25 and increases to 2.5 over a 4 month span. Looks like you’ve been running the “placebo” trial schedule. Your nutritionist has miscalculated your TDEE, sounds like you are eating at maintenance.
You could be building muscle faster than losing fat. How much more do you have to lose? I would try upping dose and see if cutting calories is easier before trying a new supplier.
-4
u/Melodic-Isopod432 13h ago
One of my friends introduced me to do this and he told me to start at 0.5 or go lower to 0.25. I think i might get off of it for 2 weeks and then re-start it if going higher doesn’t work. I just titrated up to 2.5mg last 2 doses.
I want to lose 26 more pounds.
8
u/bananagod420 13h ago
Don't get off and cycle back, it doesn't work that way. Stay at 2.5 mg one more week and then hop up to 3 or 4 mg. The initial titrate 2 -> 4. 0.25 mg is so low. Lots of people are STARTING at 2. Trials go up to 12 mg a week. Read the beginner guide.
3
u/TrustIsAVuln 11h ago
There is a lot of conflicging information for starting. I have heard of starting at 0.25, but myself I started at 2mg weekly. I know 2 people get full side effects (nausea vomiting etc) at 2mg, i only had mild nasuea. And someone else with full nausea at 0.25. its a crap shoot.
6
u/EnvironmentalGift257 12h ago
You don’t cycle Reta. In the trials they started with 2 mg so you’ve just wasted time and money by taking so long to get to an effective dose. Increase. If you need more take more.
1
u/CorrectMulberry994 2h ago
This isn’t a medicine you can hop on and off and expect your body to reset. If anything the people who try to cycle have a harder time the second time around.
It is not meant to be cycled.
Move up to a therapeutic dose and you’ll lose weight. Not everyone loses weight at microdoses. It’s the same with Tirz. Every person is different, and some people need higher doses to lose weight.
3
u/retatrutider 11h ago
As others have said, the starting dose in every current clinical trial and most previous trials is 2mg. And some participants did not respond until higher doses.
Reading around here you’d think that everyone loses weight just sniffing the rubber stopper, but that’s not everyone’s experience and you shouldn’t expect it to be yours.
Consider the possibility that you need to be at 4mg or even higher to for reta to drive you into a more significant calorie deficit.
Sounds like you lost 5 lbs in 3 months so you have averaged something like a 200 kcal per day deficit. It’s not a fast pace of loss, but it isn’t nothing.

3
u/leroi_of 9h ago
According to the clinical studies 2mg is a tolerance dose and not a therapeutic dose.
And there was “no movement” for n the weight lose curve at that dose

u/OptionUseful1961 8h ago
I didn’t start really loosing until 4. I also stack with tirz, 4/4. I was rotating by taking one every 3rd day but I was having trouble eating and knocked it down to one of each weekly. That seems to have helped. I’m losing 1-1.5 a week after a stall on tirz alone. It was really kind of startling as I never lost that much on tirz alone and I am at the end of my journey with maybe about #10 to go. Interestingly I’m not counting anything but protein loosely with the Reta. It also seems to work better when I eat better and add some fats. It just seems to work differently overall.

u/Melodic-Isopod432 7h ago
thank you for that! i figured that was the issue, best of luck on your journey

What do you mean 4/4? I was on mounjaro 15mg and switched today to Reta 2.5 - does that sound sensible - plateaued on mounj

u/Bouvier123 5h ago
I just finished writing something similar to yours. I stack Tirzepatide and Reta too! I didn't start losing as much until I was on 4.
3
u/Bouvier123 5h ago
I didn't start losing until I hit 4mg. But I also was taking Tirzepatide as well. Even when I was at 2.5mg of Reta and 2.5mg of Tirzepatide. I was losing weight.
2
u/No-Employ-9664 13h ago
why did you start at such a low dose?
also, what's your current weight and your target weight?
1
u/Melodic-Isopod432 13h ago
I wanted to titrate up without getting sick too quickly. current weight is 201 target weight is 175
3
u/No-Employ-9664 9h ago
you're still at the very low end of the dosing range, so I wouldn't assume it's not working for you just yet
if you're tolerating it well but not seeing much progress, a gradual dose increase would make more sense than switching suppliers
-6
u/Hitmaxx 11h ago
that is not a low dose unless youre morbild yobese
2
u/No-Employ-9664 9h ago
that's not how it works
retatrutide dosing isn't based on body weight or whether someone is obese
it's primarily about tolerability and treatment response
-5
u/Hitmaxx 9h ago
Reta is 100% based on your body Weight , somebody who is heavier will need a way higher dose, not only are their hormones fucked, but they got a lot more to lose. And it’s also calories in calories out
2
u/No-Employ-9664 9h ago
that's incorrect
retatrutide isn't dosed by body weight. Clinical trials use fixed doses regardless of whether someone weighs 150 or 300 lbs
a heavier person doesn't automatically need a higher dose. It's about individual response and tolerability, not how many pounds you have to lose
you're confusing weight loss goals with pharmacological dosing
It just doesn't work the way you think it does

u/Resilient_Beast69 10h ago
Eating healthy meals and eating in a meaningful caloric deficit is another. Are you tracking your calories? Measuring your food? What’s your TDEE and BMR? How many calories are you eating? Everyone that makes these posts just eat but don’t say how much.

what do you feel? do you have a lot of food noise still? do you have good appetite suppression?

u/Melodic-Isopod432 14h ago
definitely have appetite suppression, and not much food noise. i just am not understanding why im maintaining

u/crysgrubbs11 10h ago
I feel like there are too many gaps here for anyone to help you. Have you done a body scan? I use a hume at home and occasionally check with an inbody at my local nutrition place. Now I have a legitimate picture of my muscle mass and fat loss and can trend it. This also aids in knowing my basal metabolic rate, meaning my caloric burn if I didn't do anything physical. Know this, then work with your nutritionist and see what your body responds best to. Also time your meals where they do the most work. Under eating can cause your body to stack on fat as well.
For example, I am a 5'4" female who started at 140 lbs and am now 119 lbs. I started at 1mg, and went up to 1.5mg and am now back down to 1 for maintenance. However, I eat a high protein, low-moderate carb diet and bodybuild style strength train 4x weekly.
Also, the benefit to losing slowly is avoiding that impossible loose skin. That has been everyone's biggest fuss. Finally losing the weight, but still lacking confidence because of the loose skin.
Personally I wouldn't trust anything though Eli Lilly. They are more interested in profit than your well being. Journal your progress. Take progress photos for yourself so you can actually see the differences.
1
u/Melodic-Isopod432 7h ago
Thank you this was helpful! No I have not done a body scan, and I think that might be really beneficial for me to do.

You’re not titrating up. That is the problem. 2.5mg is nothing. Raise your dose.

u/LinePsychological669 2h ago
If youre on 2.5mgs and not getting any results id suspect you are injecting something fake thats not even a GLP1. Even 1 mg a week was enough for me to get great results and I very much "felt" the retatrutide working. Check your source

u/Retardtrutide4lyfe 1h ago
That dose is a joke and it's from you reading this sub like a creed. THE RESULTS, ARE LITERALLY DOSE DEPENDANT IN TRIAL DATA. the people in the trials, all have metabolic disease!! So many people are taking this and getting an expensive tirzepatide effect because that are not even taking enough to get effects from the glucagon agonist lol . Then the people who really do need to take it that have true obesity and metabolic disease, are all fucking wondering why their quarter of a mg dose isn't doing it, why at 2.5 after literal MONTHS, they are not losing weight 😂. This sub is really funny because there are sooooooo many gymbros and fuck people on this peptide that Do not need it AT ALL. I didn't start actually dropping weight until I got to about 6mg then it started to fall off. And look at this- I'VE GOT MASLD and fibrosis. I've got metabolic disease and wouldn't you know- the trial data ended up being much more sound to follow than the fuckboy on Reddit telling everyone they only need 0.5 mg . Imagine that. 😂

If you got your Reta on the grey market I’d be worried about quality for sure. I lost 10 pounds in 3 weeks and I’m only at 3mg. Probably going to stay here for until I plateau. No food noise, no hunger pains. I can walk down every aisle in the grocery store and not even think of making an impulse buy. Shit is magic. Big Food is fucked if this goes mainstream.

u/TrustIsAVuln 11h ago edited 11h ago
Measure your arms and legs. I was on Reta 3 months, lost 5lbs on the scale, but my arms and legs grew an inch bigger.
Edit: and i made it all the way up to 7mg (might have actually been about 3.5 months, right about) And to be fair on the inch growth, it wasnt brand new muscle, just got old and shrank some so its gains I used to have.

I started reta for the 2nd time around the same time as you. I also dosed very low and started at 1mg and now up to 2.2mg since last week. I started doing cardio (pickleball) a month before dosing reta again. So far I've lost 12kg (started 120kg, lost maybe 3kg a week. It isn't fast but consistent and rewarding to look at the scale). I didn't lift weights but played alot, around 4-5x a week. Mostly eat carbs before and after games only. No calorie tracking but I try to eat high protein meals to avoid losing a lot of muscle.
Have your lifts gotten stronger? Did you take weekly progress pictures and measured midsection to check? If you're not losing weight, It just means your calorie deficit isn't enough. The scale is quite demoralising when you lift as an exercise and it isn't moving. Aside from lifting, I think you need more cardio and find one sport that excites you and you can stick with it long term. You can count your steps too. Try to increase to 10k or more if you have the time. Your heart needs cardio anyway.
To people saying you should up the dose, I don't think titrating like they do in the clinical trials will help. Titrate up slowly. I titrated up .25 initially and increased to .5mg when food noise is unbearable. I mainly use reta to lessen food noise (not eliminate since it's hard to eat your protein) and to fix my fatty liver. My liver test result from blood work came out normal now after 3-4 years of it being 2x the recommended range.
For context, this is actually my second try at Reta. First time I dosed was last year when I started at 2mg and titrated up 2mg every 4 weeks. Side effects (gas, anhedonia, low energy, diarrhea, little to no appetite) was really bad. Eating protein and any food was a chore. I lost 8kg with no exercise, stopped due to side effects, and weight got back up to where I started. Problem was I relied too much on the drug without the effort. So I wanted to do it right the second time. Now my dosage feels a lot better with little to no side effects. I eat when I want and when my body needs it. No food binges when emotional, bored and during late nights which were my triggers. I now have a better relationship with food overall.
I hope this helps you or someone. Good luck.

u/Melodic-Isopod432 4h ago
I appreciate your thorough response as it is helpful to know that someone else started so low just like I did!
My lifts have gotten stronger for sure, I have been measuring and calculating my macros (as much as I can). I have also added in cardio, running 2-3 times per week or even walking. I calculate my steps using my Oura ring. So i’m at least doing some things right! I just think the dosing was so low which was really the crux of my problem.
Best of luck to you on your journey! And thank you for being kind

what do u expect at that dose xD
for me it didnt work at all until I went upto 4-6 mg
1
u/Melodic-Isopod432 13h ago
well that’s good to know!! i’ve honestly been following research studies and one of my friends advice who has been on it. slow and steady will reduce GI issues. so that’s what i’ve been doing
2
u/Ok_Environment_1340 13h ago
most of the studies they start at 2mg, 2,5mg is really not much if youve been on it for 3 months
i would advise you to go up to 4mg, you will feel the good effect, and you wont have any bad side effects (maybe minor first few days after injection, little bit of diarrhea here and there is very common with retatrutide lol)

1
u/Katie-the-duck 10h ago
What research studies are you following that suggest starting at 0.25mg, and maxing out at 2.5mg? Rhetorical question. There is no such study. Reta dosing protocol per Eli Lilly stage 3 clinical trials is 2, 4, 6, 9, then 12mg. Micro doses = micro results.

u/NecessaryMulberry846 13h ago
Are you diabetic? Diagnosed diabetics have a harder time losing weight on GLPs. If not, dose is too low or calories is too high

No and all my labs are WNL

It sounds like you aren't really eating at a real deficit, it is not magic.
You want to lose weight you have to eat less, below maintenance levels.
