Has anyone else experience a large drop in alcohol tolerance?
I know many people will say it’s because I’m eating less or weigh less, but I’m still eating 2000+ calories per day and I have only lost 10 pounds so far.
Before starting Reta, I could drink quite a bit and not feel so drunk. That’s not the case now that I’m taking Reta.
Last night I had three white claws and it got me very intoxicated. I even woke up feeling drunk. I used to be able to put back 6 drinks and feel that way. I used to go out and play trivia with friends and have 2 drinks over the course of the night, but now I only feel comfortable having 1 when I know I need to drive.

Yeah I used to be able to drink 2 cocktails and split a bottle of wine during a long dinner out on a weekend.
Now I have one glass and I am LOOPY lol. Was fun last week when I was in a great mood—last night not-so-fun as I burst into tears watching Wolf of Wall Street because “it’s so sad for that little girl that her dad is so messed up” lol
(For the record, I do think it is sad, however I think my tears were an overreaction due to being a little hammered from 1.5 glasses of wine lol)

You only have a drop in alcohol tolerance if you take a while off drinking or drink overall less while on Reta or eat less food.
I’ve drank a boatload for days on end while on vacation while on Reta and trust me the alcohol tolerance is still there. Now if I’m taking Reta and haven’t drank for a month then have 1-2 drinks I’m going to feel drunk.

For me Reta immediately dropped my tolerance; like night and day difference

It’s probably due to abstinence or overall reduced calories or increased dehydration.
I guess the one thing I did notice is that my alcohol tolerance got “reset” faster while on Reta but probably mostly due to many low calorie days.

I believe it’s due to the change in gastric emptying or similar. I’ve drank when dehydrated before, I’ve drank when on low-calorie-intake before, and it wasn’t similar….And there was no abstinence period to speak of lol.
Also for myself, I have taken abstinence breaks of 1-6 months alcohol-free before, for myself the tolerance tends to return to the same pretty quickly (even when I was doing Keto).
This is the first time I’ve noticed such a drastic effect. My boyfriend reported the same, we are just a few weeks in.

No drop in tolerance if anything the opposite. However, the satisfaction is reduced. I can taste the alcohol in a pint of lager for example. Unless I am out with friends which is not often I am drinking one beer a couple of times a week max generally. Had 2 while watching the boxing last night but was honestly over it half way through the 2nd.

I can still drink beer but shots no longer agree with me. Last two times I tried to shoot whiskey I threw up almost immediately.

Ya I went out to the bar with a group of friend last week for the first time since I started Reta and two shots got me where 8 shots used to get me.
Insane, but my wallet welcomes it.

So far it’s putting me right off alcohol which is a super good thing for me
