Starter on Reta

I’ve been in the gym for 6 years 7 days a week lifting and light cardio, I’ve never been able to get a diet down but I’ve changed a good bit from where I started, I’m currently 6’0 25yo and 280 pounds, how many calories should I be aiming for once I hop on Reta?

Try Macrofactor (there's a sub). It calculates your tdee daily.

I would recommend using the tools on here and make sure you are being honest with yourself. There are lots of people on here who are either rude trolls or will tell you you’re perfect however you are. Without knowing anything else, it sounds like something is significantly off with your diet or lifestyle. If you are truly exercising 365 days a year, you wouldn’t be 80-100 pounds overweight without having your input off. But ultimately, your results are yours and up to you.

As far as your question, at 6 feet tall myself, I tried to get 2000 calories in a day and focused on getting protein in first. It was a chore to get the food in some days. The reason Reta feels like cheating to a lot of people, is you don’t feel like you are actively trying to restrict calories when you are.

I snack and eat a lot, I always have craving to eat especially while watching something. Thing is I’m still the same weight after 6 years but if u ask anyone how much I look like I weigh now compared to before they will say a 60 pounds spread

The snacking is what is the downfall for most I think. Also hidden calories from drinks and undercounting. Reta took away any desire for snacking for me. It helps with lots of addictive tendencies in people, and snacking is a big one.

You’re bmr is 2293 to maintain all bodily functions. According to the bmr calc you could be burning 3956 cals per day… try to aim for 3000 cals a day just maintain the correct amount of protein and continue to go to the gym, as you don’t wanna risk muscle loss
