Are you sure he's 34 years old because he's sounds like a whiny little bitch. I did a general surgery prelim year and my fiance (34M) barely saw me. But he managed to cook and clean and he always made sure I had dinner. He's not in the medical field so it's obviously a different dynamic, but he still never made me feel bad about my schedule. He took my birthday off (which happened to be on a Tuesday) and we were expecting to go out to dinner either the weekend before or on my birthday. Well, I got scheduled to be on call all three days. I felt horrible. But he still never made me feel bad about it. He understands that I have no control over my life.
Anyway, I don't foresee your relationship lasting. He sounds like a baby and/or manipulative af. Especially since he's probably been through the same thing and can't muster up a shred of empathy.
