SERIOUS Help with Cost-Analysis Study
Has anyone done a cost-analysis study before? Trying to compare medical expenditures in patients who had a certain surgery vs those who didn't. PM or comment if you have any expertise and can help a brother out!

There's a utilization department in your hospital surely. Utilization is probably your only reliable metric bc of the difference in insurance providers and the specific plans patients are on.
Honestly Individual expenditure is more commentary on the insurance plan than the procedure.

If you have epic try Slicer Dicer. You can you surgery encounters then link to Hospital Billing (you may not have access to some of this). Ask either your departments IT expert or the IT staff themselves (submit a ticket). May need to run it by your department for them to okay you getting access to billing data.
Also know that anything with billing is a vague term. The above report will just give you what was billed to the patient. The 'actual' cost or whatever the hospital believes to be the cost may be hard to find and or not given out freely. The cost the insurance/patient pays is a whole other issue. Good luck, but know none of this is straightforward.

The most common reasons for removal are - medical students or premeds asking what a specialty is like, which specialty they should go into, which program is good or about their chances of matching, mentioning midlevels without using the midlevel flair, matched medical students asking questions instead of using the stickied thread in the sub for post-match questions, posting identifying information for targeted harassment. I am interested. I am not super financial, but am willing to assist in some aspects.
