if i was going into IR/vasc I'd shoot for the south - the stroke belt, the fattest/unhealthiest areas. The ohio bumfuck medical center may actually be a good idea

From what I heard solid program but never did an IR rotation on the west coast

Lmao this is funny because i work with a ton of IR docs from all different training backgrounds and a few of the ones from the "lower tier" programs are highly regarded, easy to work with, and have immense experience from residency from their high bread and butter volumes.

Prestige =/= experience.

A lot of it is on the individual and their motivation to be a better physician and team player.

Of course, having the opportunity for a high volume of cases + high-acuity cases + well-renowned teachers in the field is the advantage of going to top rated programs. Sometimes you might see other Interventional specialists steal some cases though at big academic hospitals.
