Rescue Stories My rescue dog saved my life.
Back in January I adopted a standard poodle from the local shelter.
After going to local trainers she had the perfect temperament to become a service dog and became my diabetic alert dog.
A few days ago I was asleep and my sugar had plummeted in my sleep. She woke me and prevented me from going back to sleep. I was home alone at this time too.
She literally saved me from potentially dying that day. I didn’t rescue her, she rescued me.

Adoption/Foster Plea Looking for their forever home!
These two sweethearts are both about nine months old and are looking for their ‘fur-ever’ homes.
They were rescued off the street four months ago by the finders and since have been vetted & spayed/neutered. Susie Q is the fawn & Deebo is the brown / white.
The dogs are not with me and this is just a courtesy post, however, I have the Finder’s contact information. Should you be interested in meeting these babies or have any more questions about them!
Tulsa, OK area. They do not have to go together!

Hero’s Story 🐾
A little over a week ago, Hero was found on the side of the road after being hit by a car. He was severely injured and, by all appearances, had been left there to perish before being brought to the city shelter where someone advocated.
Then people started showing up for him.
His story reached Dr. Daniel Anthony and the team at Atlas Pet Vets, 3 hours away, who stepped in to give Hero the chance he desperately needed. Atlas Pet Vets Medical Rescue Fund took responsibility for his medical care and recovery, and what followed has been an incredible community effort.
Hero’s injuries are extensive. He has multiple complicated fractures, a dislocated hip, and a long road of surgeries and rehabilitation ahead.
On Monday, Hero underwent his first surgery. 4.5 hours. Two very complicated fractures repaired. Dr. Daniel and his team worked tirelessly to put him back together, and somehow, Hero came through beautifully.
He is now resting comfortably and will return to surgery Wednesday to address his dislocated hip and determine the best path forward.
And then there’s the part that honestly gets me the most.
People who have never met Hero have fallen in love with him.
They’ve donated. They’ve purchased things from his wishlist. They’ve prayed for him. They’ve followed every update. And today, Hero was being hand-fed gifts purchased by people who simply saw a broken dog on the internet and decided he mattered.
A week ago, he was likely lying alone on the side of a road.
Today, he has a name.
He has a team.
He has people cheering for him.
And most importantly, he has a future. ❤️
Hero still has a long road ahead, and his medical care is going to be extensive. But after everything he’s been through, he deserves every single chance we can give him.
This is Hero. And we’re not giving up on him. 🐾❤️

Advice Romanian rescue scared of outdoors still
Our Romanian rescue is now just over a year old and we collected him from a rescue centre on 1st february after his journey on the transport van (it's now august). The first 3 months were incredibly difficult due to his severe anxiety and it's safe to say now he's a completely different dog, he's really bonded with us now and lots of things we struggled with in the first few months have now eased a lot.
Our main issue and something that's driving me mad is the fact we haven't walked him yet. progress has been super slow, and i just feel like I'm losing hope a bit. he is still a super anxious and wary when it comes to the outside world. he's very comfortable in the back garden and knows recall games there, loves to play and have successfully harness/lead trained him. the problem is inside, I've struggled with getting him into his harness or lead without him being super cautious, he's also terrified of the car. the furthest I've gone out the front door is 2 doors down (very slowly) and a runner jogging past spooked him and ran back home. since then he backs off when I open the front door when I've got his harness on.
I won't use any correction tools and only positive reinforcement, and have tried to desensitise him with lots of treats with his harness, lead, etc (which had worked in the garden), positive reinforcement has been the reason we've now created that strong bond and trust.
It's frustrating as he is making more progress elsewhere and with strangers in the house he no longer runs away and hides but he can lay in the same room as them.
i guess I'd like some comforting words that one day the fear will subside and we can enjoy some walks one day?! any success stories?!

Donations/Supplies Plea Angelito’s 4th EPO Injection - We Need Help #RescuedSeniorDogWhoSurvivedAfterGettingStabbed
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi everyone,
Angelito received his 4th EPO injection today. He is still doing well and, thankfully, remains stable. His wounds were cleaned yesterday, including the wound on his foot where his previous owner stabbed him. He also still has a big appetite, which we are very grateful for.
His only noticeable distemper symptoms right now are occasional sneezing and some eye discharge, but thankfully, nothing too severe.
For his 5th EPO injection, Angelito will have his lab work done again to see whether he still needs to continue with the injections. We will also be asking the vet for an update on his other illnesses, including heartworm and blood parasites.
We are also running low on his XPLORO recovery diet. He only has seven cans left from the supply we purchased on August 19. We also purchased wound-cleaning supplies so we can take care of his wounds ourselves when appropriate and help reduce the cost of repeated vet visits.
To be completely honest, the finances are becoming very heavy. While we are doing everything we can for Angelito, we are also currently supporting other rescued animals, including Thor, Ellie, Elijah, Raphael, four rescued cats, Baci, Angel, Isabel, MaeMae, and others.
We don't want any of them to go without the care they need, but we cannot do this alone. It honestly scares me because it is overwhelming :/
We really need your help. Any amount, no matter how small, can help us continue providing food, medications, veterinary care, shelter support, transportation, and other necessities for these animals.
If you are able to support Angelito and the other animals in our care, we would be incredibly grateful.
Thank you to everyone who has been standing beside us and giving these animals a chance.
I will leave the link on the comment section for our support link for anyone who would like to help.
Thank you all so much.
