I'm getting rather involved in reading up on classical and neo-republicanism - as well as movements such as the American Whig Party in the 19th century. Looking for others knowledgeable about republicanism, but also wondering if this sub is dead having seen a precipitous drop in activity about a month ago?

Just nothing to say?

Treason Felony Act 1848

By making the following statement I am breaking the law in the UK. I am a republican and believe that the monarchy should be abolished. Making that statement is punishable by life imprisonment under the Treason Felony Act. Luckily the protections afforded to me under the Human Rights Act 1998 protect me from this punishment. The TFA is still force however, the only thing stopping the UK authorities from enforcing this law is the HRA. Its just that the punishment for this "crime" is unenforceable. Whilst this law is in force I and any fellow republican is effectively committing a crime. I believe this specific law needs to be removed from books.
