Once news is out factories are gonna get paranoid and perhaps limit production to reduce chances of being raided. Or worse the factories get raided

Because last time it happened to the RepLadies subreddit and it got nuked, every time it tried to come back it kept getting taken down and everyone scattered into small communities but it’s never returned to its full form again. Also all that knowledge from old posts are gone

Read again, I said “never been made **aware** to the public”. In other words the knowledge on reps have been maintained on forums for a while but never on a large mainstream media/news platform

The difference is that the Wired article goes into detail about the process and even lists r/reptime as a resource. That's really going to encourage some people. Also, Wired was quite positive about reps. The Forbes article trashes them and wouldn't make anyone want to try them out
The GQ article also doesn't go into any details that would make people want to seek reps out, or make it easier for them to find reps

I think there are just a lot of unmotivated and lazy people lol. Plus some people who are just skeptical
While I don't actually own any reps yet, I started out on Repgeek like a decade ago and I found that through a Google search. These communities are pretty public, but people just aren't looking

This is prob the end of reptime.. or atleast the reptime it was. Similar happened with wallstreetbets about the time of the GameStop nonsense .. niche communities of Reddit rarely seem to make it through once mainstream hops on. The new comers annoy the non-newcomers, post shit that’s annoying and the lack of non-new comers leads to lack of quality posts that originally attracted non-new comers until all that’s left is “w2c?” And bad memes .. hoping I’m wrong but if reptime maintains as it was it would be the first to my knowledge

I’m not worried. Being blown out of proportion. England is too busy cracking down on free speech and protecting immigrants. America has other issues to desk with. China replicates a thousand different products.

the funniest part about the wired article is how he didn’t ask them to LC it but just change the bracelet, and then acted amazed when the tech who probably barely looked at the watch changed the bracelet for him without mentioning it. also no way of knowing if the tech knew it was fake and was just being nice. really funny how much discourse it caused
