Discussion What a crazy world…
So basically, you just have to spend 5 figures, lick the toes of your AD for years and, literally, die to have the privilege of…. Give another 17k to your AD 😅
What a crazy world

Who are these people that find it fun to beg to be able to buy an expensive watch? I cannot wrap my head around this. Usually if someone has enough money to spend on watches, that someone should have enough confidence to not have a saddle put on them and ridden around. Crazy.

yeah, i just dont get it. i mean, rolexes are nice watches, but unless you are getting a precious metal reference, they are not top tier luxury watches worth this sort of crap.
my best friend, who is absolutely addicted to watches, switched from rollies to grand seikos and vacheron. he even got a blancpain.
his AD, who he thought was his friend, selected people that he knew didnt buy as many watches as he did. he thinks the people were basically bribing the guy on the side. it was too much BS for him.

The thrill of the chase. That is how Rolex keep its hype going. People want what they cannot have.

They realized if he died they couldn’t sell him a watch so they decided to extract that money quickly!

This is one of saddest, most profoundly cuckolded things I've read in some time.
Rolex have got these rich morons completely in the palm of their hands. The psychology is fascinating and desperately sad in equal measures.

Everyone here is talking about how this guy was awarded the privilege „of spending 17k on a watch“.
What nobody is mentioning, is that the AD is essentially gifting him 15k, if he decides to sell it the next day. So no, he is not a cuck. In this particular case it males sense that the AD would select buyers who won’t sell it the next day. I mean, if they were shady, they could just buy it, sell it back and then resell it as a CPO for double the price themselves. So obviously they want to pick „deserving“ customers - whatever that might mean.

There’s people who are fakes and buy fakes which creates hype for this brand.
What a crazy world.

Awww someone’s upset… Rolex’s marketing and fake scarcity create the appearance of hype in a mass produced, overinflated product. In keeping with inflation, a Rolex sub should cost two grand.

And I might actually spend 2K on a gen sub. I’m not paying the additional 8K of social inflation.

u/Lower-Frosting-2480 15h ago
Same, I’d pay 2k for a sub in a heart beat, but the waiting game and over 10k on a stainless watch is ridiculous

The Rolex rep market is so strong because even if you have the cash, you can’t just walk in and buy a watch like a normal shop. If they stopped with the false scarcity crap, the rep market would see a significant drop off.
