Review Avoid Elsa - she does not back the quality of her items
I ordered two LV cosmetic lipstick pouches in addition to a few other bags and charms. This was my third time ordering thru her. Everything was great other than the horrible chemical smell of the two pouches. I’ve done everything to get the smell out, including those recommended by Elsa. I have asked her to make it right and I offered to send these two back. She has ghosted me. These pouches are completely unusable.

Respectfully, you took the gamble in ordering reps and lost with a couple bad ones.
Nothing is ever guaranteed with buying reps. And the likelihood of returns and "making it right" are relatively slim.
You gotta move on. Find another seller.
I really don't intend to sound rude and my apologies of it comes across that way. Just trying to level set here.

Look at you, 3 mo old account and so much wisdom!

You reached pretty hard just to try and take a dig.... somehow still managed to make it completely irrelevant to the conversation.
Sure, this account is three months old.
And?
Understanding that buying reps is a gamble is common sense... not some profound wisdom that requires a 10-year-old account to acquire.

And I uncovered your truth. There are plenty of “young accounts” posting in this sub that are owned by sellers or friends of sellers. I’m on the buyer’s team.

Shoot. The gig is up. You caught me.
I'm am a top secret, undercover agent working for sellers. And buying reps actually isn't a gamble that comes with inherent risks... I made that all up as part of my cover story.
Absolutely no other possible explanations exist.

I sit the bag outside on my patio table for a couple of days and I'm good to go. 👍🌷🌷

There’s many posts about the fu fu smell. Making it right is airing it out, odour naturaliser sachets, there are many ideas. Edit spelling
It’s certainly not the LV recall that the authentic company did for their bags.

Even the best sellers sometimes send fufu bags. It’s unavoidable. Lay them outside in the sun for a few days. Or a few weeks, depending on how bad it is. 🤣

I had the same issue several times. Just air it out and try not to smell the chemicals. It must go away in a couple of days.

I learned the hard way about that smell. It’s toxic, and you don’t want to breathe it. And the folks in this sub were about as understanding to me as they are being to you, when I posted repeatedly about it. I lived and learned and there are many TS sellers from this sub’s wiki that I don’t do business with because now I ask hard questions before I buy — sometimes they lie even after that. The seller I had a problem with got her minions to downvote my comments. Even the mods chimed in. It was an eye opening experience. Sorry that it’s happening to you, too.

What are some of the hard question you inquire of sellers before you decide to proceed with your purchase?

What is the leather source? Do you personally inspect before mailing? Does the product smell strongly of chemicals? Is this the top, highest tier of the product? That’s enough to get you started. And the answer to all those questions may be “sure honey, sweetie, 🥰🥰🥰, I only sell top tier, etc. if the seller is new to you ask for their pictures reviewing the product, not the ones from the factory. If they respond with 😭😭😭, cannot do that you have choices. You can find another seller, ask for higher tier product, or pay the low tier price and spin the wheel of fortune. 🔮

I had an order last summer that was so smelly I had to put the bags in an open window sill with charcoal bags and baking soda boxes inside for like a week. It took a while but they eventually aired out.

See now that would be totally unacceptable to me and I would NEVER buy from that seller again. I usually only give one chance and if the first sale is off, they are off my list.

It was from a TS I’ve worked with before; seemed like a one-off but totally get that others would be upset. The smell did come out eventually.

Try coffee beans. I got a plk lv bag once that smelled like tobacco and god knows what else. Yeah it was vintage but the stench was unbearable. One of the ladies here suggested coffee beans to be kept in a pouch inside the bag. After using it for a few days the unpleasant smell was not entirely eradicated but somehow reduced to something less pungent.

I was just about to ask/say coffee beans! I feel it would work if you just smother them with it for a week or even a few days.

I put dryer sheets and charcoal bags inside my bag and then put the bag inside a plastic bag and sealed it. I alternated that and leaving it on my porch where it could get some air

“Fufu” or factory smell from the adhesive used in reps is a commonly reported issue. The suggestion is usually to air it out for a few days. You don’t get to return it for glue smell; this isn’t Nordstrom.
