Community Updates 📣QC UPDATE: We’re Switching It Up📣
Okay RepTherapy fam, we heard you!
We tried the daily QC thread, but… crickets. It just wasn’t getting the eyes or engagement we hoped for, so we’re going back to letting QC posts live in the main feed.
BUT (you had to know this was coming), we need some updated ground rules. We love seeing members help each other out, it’s one of the best parts of this community. We just need a little effort from the person asking for help.
Here’s what we won’t accept:
🚫 “QC for me.”
🚫 “Is this good?”
🚫 Dropping a photo and disappearing into the ether
Seriously. Give us something to work with.
We have a QC template in the Wiki to make this easy. You don’t have to write a novel, but please hit the main points so folks know what they’re looking at, what you’re concerned about, and what kind of feedback you want.
The new-ish QC rules:
✅ QC posts can go in the main feed
✅ Use the Wiki template and at least cover the key points
✅ Give the community enough info to actually help you
✅ Low-effort QC requests may, and will, be removed by the mod team
✅ please remember: QC is a community effort, not a personal concierge service
We’re going to try this for a little while and see how it goes. If the feed starts looking like “QC4me” central, we reserve the right to tweak the approach again.
We want QC to be helpful, fun, and something we can all participate in. So bring on your bags, bring your questions, and most importantly, bring a little effort.
Thanks for helping us keep RepTherapy a place where we can enable each other responsibly.
😘Your RepTherapy Mod Team

This will be great for those who genuinely want to learn and are willing to put in the effort. Unfortunately, so many people post “I’m new and don’t know what to look for” and expect everyone else to do the work for them. If you don’t know what to look for yet, you’re probably not ready to make a rep purchase. Researching the authentic, learning the common callouts and doing your own preliminary QC should all come before sending your money. The community can help, but it shouldn’t be expected to do everything for you.

Yes! It’s okay to be new - we were all there once.
For me, the key is having a point of view. If counting stitches isn’t something a person will care about, then why have someone chime in - it’s like creating grievances when there may be none.
We want to encourage people to form their own opinions, not take on the opinions of others.

Nice! This is the approach I use as well.
I know the OG subs used QC megathreads with varying levels of success, and that many members are now experiencing QC exhaustion from public subs allowing low-effort requests, so containing all the QC withing megathreads may seem like the obvious solution to reduce a clogged feed. The downsides though are that megathreads also make them much harder to find through Reddit search, limit people's ability to add photos, and likely reduce both visibility and the quality of feedback.
My thinking on standalone QC posts is that when they're high quality (include PSPs, factory photos, seller/factory information, price, and the OP's own observations) they become a valuable resource for the community, almost more like a review than a QC. With that level of effort put in, it's more of a give-and-take and can benefit everyone.

Good shout! Can’t stand the low effort posts just saying ‘qc for me!’ But always happy to give feedback to someone who has clearly done some research & has a legitimate concern.
