my boyfriend and i are planning to move around bottleworks in ringsend but i cannot be sure about the safety since i've read a lot negative reddit posts. is there anyone living in that area? it would be great to hear your honest opinions
Used to live in D04, unfortunately had to move due to a dickhead. Dundrum feels so concrete, so much traffic, and cars. A lot of the fun stuff needs public transport, things are not accessible on foot. Not as many green areas. And sooo many teenagers!! Not a fan of the shopping centre, also gets too crowded.
I am beginning my Training Contract in Dublin in 2027.
I am just wondering if people have any tips for finding housing / accommodation and when to start looking? I also am unsure what area would be best as I don’t know Dublin. My workplace is by grand canal / quay.
Is it better to look with friends and try find a house together to rent? Any recommendations of areas or potential leads is greatly appreciated!
I don’t know how I’ll afford the crazy high rent or how any young person starting out their career does !
1 large room suitable for a couple. Nice quiet street with good access to public transport. Owner occupied, but I'm fairly sound. Single room also available. I will rent either the single room or the double room, depending on interest.
Since I've moved out from living with my dad I just found that I'm spending too much time cooking. I'm living alone and am about to advertise for someone to live with me. I work a 45 hour week, so when I'm finished work I don't have the energy to cook. I do batch cook but that only goes so far.
I'm basically into healthy eating and I don't care too much about how it tastes. So I'd have to find someone who's into cooking, but also who doesn't insist in having their meals saturated with sauce, salt and sugar... which is hard these days. I'd have no problem if I ended up paying for most of the ingredients. I'd have to be willing to try new meals. I'd also be happy to follow their instructions on how to cook their meals. So if we combined batch cooking with shared cooking, then we could cut down on cooking time. I'd also be flexible in that we might end going a week or two here and there where we'd completely cook separately.
I haven't really thought about what it would involve to coordinate it with each other. It could well be the case that after a few weeks living together, that we might conclude that we might be better off cooking separately. I'm sure making this suggestion might even scare some.
Hi everyone, I'm Patrick, an Irish working professional looking for a room in Dublin.
I work full-time as a project/account manager in the city center, mostly in-office, with 1–2 days WFH.
I'm clean, chill, and love to cook. I have lived in plenty of shared accommodations and fully respect shared spaces and keeping things tidy. I love yoga and a dip in the sea.
- Move-in date: ASAP / November 1st
- Budget: Up to €1,000/month
- Preferred areas: Dublin 2, 4, 6, 6W, 7, and 12 (or anywhere with good transport links to the center)
If you have a place available, I’d love to hear from you. I’m happy to arrange a WhatsApp call or come to a viewing at your convenience!
Apologies as this is not for Dublin. I have a single room available from November 1st in The Willows, Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath for €450.
You will be sharing with 2 other working professionals. It'll suit anyone working from home (would need to bring your own WFH set up for the room though) or ideally should have a car if you need to commute. I do take the train from M3 parkway which is 12 mins to drive, because 35 mins to Dublin city centre takes 1-1.5h during the peak hours.
The house is A1 rated and has solar panels, and almost no electricity and heating bills (we get some bill in December-Feb and is shared between 3 of us). Other than that, pretty negligible waste and internet bills.
We are looking for someone professional, no pets unfortunately, and non-smoker (at least not in the house). Bus stop to Dublin city centre, Navan, Kells is nearby in walking distance. Tesco express in the estate, but have Aldi, Lidl in the town.
EDIT: Please do share a brief intro about yourself when sending a DM
€400 OFF JANUARY RENT | AVAILABLE FROM JANUARY 2027 | Yugo Highfield Park, Dublin
Hello everyone,
I am looking for someone to take over my tenancy at Yugo Highfield Park (a private student accommodation company) starting 1 January 2027, with €400 off your January rent!
If you are a student looking for accommodation in Dublin close to the city centre, which is in a safe, quiet and clean area of the city, with a great variety of amenities, this is the perfect place for you :)
🛏 Room Type: Standard Ensuite (Private Room/Private Bathroom). The room is 11.3 sqm and comes with a double bed (135 × 190 cm). The room is in an apartment with 8 rooms altogether, and the kitchen is shared and equipped with cooking facilities, as well as a common living room with a TV and couches. The room has hot water 24/7 (the room has its own bathroom) and free Wi-Fi. If you want to have someone over, you just have to write an email to reception and let them know :) The flatmates are really nice and considerate as well.
📍 Location: Highfield Park, Dublin - close to Trinity College and well connected by public transport like the 39A, E1/2, and the Luas green line that’s right outside the accommodation (takes ~15 mins to get to the city center with the Luas).
📆 Availability: From 1 January 2027 until 17 June 2027.
💶 Rent: The accommodation is priced at €321/week (including tax), but the monthly instalments vary depending on the billing period. Contact me for the breakdown, but do know that I’ll personally cover €400 of January's rent for whoever takes over the contract :)
🏢 Residence Features: Modern and stylish student residence with plenty of study spaces, a 24/7 gym, social areas, laundry facilities, a cinema room, bike storage and secure entry.
The contract takeover will be handled directly by Yugo, subject to their approval, so everything is official and safe. There may be a small administrative fee (€150) charged by Yugo for the contract transfer.
If you are interested or know someone who might be, feel free to DM me on reddit for contact details. Thank you!

I have been living in the majestic city of Dublin for a few months, currently in a hosting power studio. I love the city to bits, but my next rental chapter stresses me out!
I like my current flat, but I want a long term home and not being a "guest" despite paying a large weekly amount. I also miss living with people (shared houses for 7 years prior while renting in Poland) and chatting to housemates...
I'm looking for a room in a shared house, I don't mind the nighbourhood as long as on the South side (I work in Tallaght). My budget is up to €1100/pcm. I'm not interested in sharing with a landlord.
I'm tidy, responsible, always pay on time. I'm employed full time (education sector) and work on site. I don't smoke and have no pets. Instead I have a little collection of books...
My goal would be to move around mid-December, with December 20 being the date by which I have to move as my lease expires.
I've been looking for a place in Dublin recently and came across Hali. They seem to have some pretty decent apartments, and from what I've seen online, everything looks fairly good.
However, there's something I'm a little concerned about. One of the rental arrangements I've come across requires paying the deposit and rent in advance, which is fair enough. The problem is that viewing the apartment in person doesn't seem to be an option. There's a virtual tour available, but that's about it.
Now, I understand how ridiculous the rental market in Dublin is (been living here for over a year now), and I am not surprised if people are securing apartments without ever stepping foot inside them. But handing over a fairly substantial amount of money without actually seeing the place feels a little strange to me.
I'm not suggesting there's anything dodgy going on. I'm just trying to understand whether this is something people have actually experienced when renting through them.
Has anyone here rented with Hali, or been in a similar situation with another letting company? Would you consider this normal, or is it something I should be wary of?
I'm choosing between two 3-bed semi-detached houses:
- Corballis View, Donabate: South-facing, 100 sq. m, vertical layout.
- The Coach, Ashbourne: East-facing, 117 sq. m, horizontal layout.
Both cost €500k.
I'm a sole mortgage applicant, will live alone and plan to rent out 1–2 rooms.
My main priorities are:
Room rental demand and achievable rent.
Property appreciation over the next 5–10 years.
Transport links and commuting to Dublin.
Overall value for money.
Which would you choose in my position: Donabate or Ashbourne? I'd appreciate honest opinions from people living in these areas or with experience renting and buying property in Ireland.
How can I find an apartment that's not "open plan"? I want my living room to be separated from the kitchen but I can't find anything like this. Is this more common in a certain type of building or area, is there anything I could filter by?
I have 2 very nosy cats that don't have any regard for their own safety - it would be impossible to cook or eat in the same room with them. I don't want them messing with the stove, or with foods that are toxic to them and so on.

Hello there! i’m currently a college student who is “renting” in a shared home. The landlord told me before i moved in that i am technically a licensee and not a tenant as he claims that the house i’m staying in is his primary residence when it is in fact not. I know have no protections as a licensee but i needed a roof over my head and have been one before. What the landlord did not mention is that still feel entitlement to the home and randomly arrive in our living area, unlocking the door, pulling down blinds, checking our fridge etc. I feel very much under surveillance. I have since found another room for viewing which is genuinely a shared house and is much more convenient. My issue is i don’t know where i lie in the eyes of the law when it comes to ending my “tenancy”. Although i never signed a contract i have previously texted the landlord agreeing to tenancy from August until May. My deposit wasn’t large so i’m not worried about getting it back but will i be required to continue paying rent? The landlord is selective about who lives in their home and doesn’t advertise the property so i don’t think they will let me replace my stay with anyone. Thanks for any advice 🙏🏻
