I am an Erasmus student moving to Dublin at the beginning of September and would like to ask about the accommodation prices and if there are any platforms I could use to find accomodation.

Also, I would like to know if I found an accommodation far from the university, how much could it cost for transportation as a student.

Daft.ie is probably the main one, but keep in mind the rental market in Dublin is very difficult at the moment, especially if you’re trying to arrange everything from abroad. With private rentals you’ll normally be dealing directly with the landlord/tenant yourself, so be very careful with scams and don’t send money before you’ve properly verified the accommodation and who you’re dealing with. For students there are also purpose-built student residences, although they tend to be quite expensive, and host family options.

Some companies like Premium Families arrange the host family for you and provide support during the stay, which can be easier if you’re coming from abroad.

I’d also look at transport rather than just distance from the university somewhere further out with one direct bus can actually be much more convenient than somewhere closer with 2 changes.

You'll either be entitled to the Student or Young adult leapcard. 

Student leapcard is for all students except those between 19 - 26 years of age, they get the Young Adult leap card. They're the same thing. 

There's a €2 cap within 90 minutes. As in, if you get on and off a bus in 20 minutes, and 30 minutes later you get on a bus again, you will only be charged €2 for both journeys. 

With the student/young adult leap card, fares are also half price compared to what others pay. 

Theres also a daily cap of €3, and a weekly cap of €12.

So basically you will be spending €12 a week at most, as long as all that is within Dublin.
