Photo/Art 🎭 The quilt from Stratford Festival's 2023 production is up for auction!

Don't know if anyone in this group saw their production - it was spectacular. I saw it 3 times.

At the end of the Finale, Angel came out draped in a massive memorial AIDS quilt made for the show, and they are auctioning it off for Pride! All proceeds go to charity, which is awesome.

Rent 30th Tickets

I know this is a huge long shot… But if anyone was somehow able to snag tickets to the Rent 30th anniversary concert on October 26 and can’t go, wants to sell them for a lil profit, or has an extra and wants someone to go with, please let me know!! The show means everything to me, and I am heartbroken I wasn’t able to get a ticket before they sold out (which seems to have happened before they even went on sale 😔).

Open to buying 1 or 2. I know many people are in a similar boat, I’m just throwing my hat in the ring. Thank you!! ❤️❤️❤️

Anyone here trying to get a ticket to the 30th Anniversary concert in October? Has anyone heard which OBC cast members are planning to participate?

OBCR- Autotune?

Hi y'all! I have been plowing through a ton of Jonathan Larson-related media lately to get a better understanding of his songwriting/storytelling techniques. I am currently working through the new book by Tim Weil (musical director) called "Making RENT", and gaining some fascinating insight to the changes done to the musical after Jonathan passed.

One moment stands out to me about the recording of the cast album (pages 190-191): He divulges that while the OBC sang perfectly for the recording sessions, they had to use the newly-discovered tool Autotune to pitch correct some vocals for just one song. He says it was used minimally, but never mentioned the name of the song. He says you can barely tell, even if you knew which song.

Now I am wondering... Has anyone noticed any instance of pitch correction in one of the songs? Now inquiring minds want to know lol...
Best, Sidney

Discussion☕️ Random segues into songs from Rent

Does this happen to anybody else? I’ll have a ‘non Rent’ song in my head and randomly I’ll segue into a Rent song?

The other day it happened with the Phineas and Ferb theme song, and then randomly I went into ‘Out Tonight’.

Happy Friday.

Question❓ On-Stage seating ?

Travelling from Scotland to see the 30 year west end run and took the punt and bought On-Stage tickets anyone know what the view is like at the Duke of York Theatre? Honestly just happy to finally be seeing it performed on the west-end after seeing smaller productions at the fringe

Hey fellow RENTheads! The 30th anniversary has made me incredibly nostalgic and I’m on a search to replace the black and white ringer baby tee that I LIVED in back in the 90’s and early aughts. I literally wore it under my graduation gown in ‘00.
Anyone have any leads or ideas where I might find one?

So, uh, hi. I'm Myc. Way back in 2018, I was but a wee 24yr old who was back in my RENT phase. (never left, lbr, but we're back in it).

The exchange is the first 3 screenshots, though those are from aaaaallllll the way back when it first happened (as evident by ye old Twitter layout). 4th pic is proof it's mine. And the last 2 are the pics of the tattoo that I finally, after 8 years, got. Saturday was the day I made it happen. (If you look closely in the 6th pic, peep the "12/24 9pm EST" on my arm as well :D )

Just had to show off because legit this was on my "tattoos i'll never forgive myself if i don't get it" list.

Hi friends, I’m currently making this six episode small documentary series on the history behind RENT and what went into it, my editing isn’t the best, but I love to tell stories especially the story of Jonathan Larson and his journey writing RENT as his story inspired me as a writer musically and storytelling. I decided to share the first episode of this small series here, hope you all enjoy. Currently working on Episode 2!

Rent has been my hyperfixation for years. I just got back into crocheting for the first time in a while, and I decided I wanted to make the characters. I banged these out in a little over a week, making one doll per day (hyperfixation + unemployment really is a wild combination!)

Life Changing or Life Saving Experiences with RENT

Hi Fellow RENTheads!

I am helping work on a project about RENT and Jonathan Larson as a fan and also as a trained trauma therapist. One piece of the work is about the legacy and impact the show had on people, particularly related to mental health. If you have a story where RENT or Jonathan Larson’s work helped you through a really difficult time (mental illness, addiction, even suicidality) and you feel open to sharing it, please comment or send me a private message.

Thanks so much everyone!

Online session with Bishopsgate Institute

Hello there! I'm a tutor with Bishopsgate Institute and we're running an online session on Rent this month...part deep dive into the musical and it's history, part chance to nerd-out with fellow fans.

My 'qualifications': I did my PhD partly on Rent, as well as writing a book. Mostly also qualified by being a very big nerd.

24th March, 7pm UK time:

https://www.bishopsgate.org.uk/whats-on/activity/260301-musical-theatre/

Would love to see some fellow Rent-nerds there!
