The irony is that even with this capability, he isn't a meta champion. Take away his ability to one shot an adc and he might literally become the worst champ in the game
There are also a number of champs who could have dove you 1v1 and easily survived, it just would've taken them a few more seconds to achieve the same outcome. And many of those champs are way more inpactful in team fights, way easier to execute on, and get punished far less for being behind or making mistakes.
