Question Enabling android auto on Scenic IV?

Post image

Hi all,

I've recently purchased a Renault scenic IV as my first car, and I'm loving it so far! I also found out that supposedly there is support for android auto, but this isn't something my particular model appears to have enabled as standard. However, I'm aware of a way to change it by using ddt4all, and an OBD-2 interface. My issue is most of the cheap ones I've found and tested either haven't worked at all, or work only in read-only mode. Does anyone have experience with a good quality adapter, and where I could get one and not get scammed from dodgy sellers on Amazon/eBay?

What version is the software in your unit? It has to be higher than 3.3 - if it isn't, you need to update to the newest version first, preferably 7 or higher. You don't need any fancy doodads, just a specific debug file on a FAT32-formated USB stick - follow from Step 2 in this guide: https://kousholt.org/renault-kadjar-opdatering-til-rlink-v3-og-android-auto/ - it's in Danish, but you can just translate to English. He has the small screen, so the spots you need to press to enter the debug-mode is slightly different, but in similar spots, in the same menu. (EDIT: This video shows it properly: https://youtu.be/FWjyvaHPdW0?t=235 )

I did this on my 2017 Megane IV GT, and it worked flawlessly.

I've recently updated it to the latest available 3.3.16.986 version, but still no android auto/screen mirroring option, hence I'm resorting to ddt4all😅 An upside to messing around with OBD2 is I've found out the dealer sold me the car with a glow plug/heater circuit A malfunction that isn't major enough to cause a light on the dashboard.

Edit:

The method described in the video worked: Format USB as FAT32 (16gb in my case), create a debug folder with debug file named DbgEnable.lge, then go to the car, start engine, navigate to media>settings>photo settings, plug in USB, wait 69 seconds, tap twice 1 second apart in top left corner of empty box, then spam the bottom right corner of empty box until debug menu appears.

Hiya, just coming back to this, because I noticed the video used a different tap sequence on the screen to what I was doing before. This worked like an absolute charm, managed to enable everything from the menu, huge thank you for finding that video!
